Can someone compile some links to all of the sample photos taken with the Treo 600's camera? I've only seen a few and I'd really like to see what this camera is capable of. If you have access to a Treo 600, please take as many photos as possible and post them. What I've seen so far has been dismal, and I'm still hoping that the camera is capable of better than what we've seen.

same here... All I've seen is some 150x120 crapy picture.

I agree. The camera is supposed to be 640x480, but all we've seen is one crappy 150x120 picture.

There are two pictures taken from the Treo 600 (I got the urls from another topic on this board). The first pic is okay (kinda what I expected), but the second one is terrible (it's indoors and the lack of a flash doesn't help).

Crowza, thanks for compiling those links. I saw the second one before, but can't remember if I had seen the first one. Here' are my thoughts...

Picture 1 - Color quality looks good but the picture is very fuzzy and out of focus looking. The picture was taken from behind a gate, apparently, so it was hardly a good test case.

Picture 2 - Downright horrible. Pictures taken with built-in cameras rarely do well in this sort of lighting situation. Nevertheless, we should expect better by now. And what's with the bright blue pixelization going on around the lower left and right borders?

Here's another one I found at that site, similar to picture 2:

    Keep 'em coming.

    Here 's a 640x480 picture.

Thanks Mol. If that's indicative of the quality we can expect, that may have just nailed the coffin shut on any desire I had left for this phone.

Is there a picture anywhere of a picture of the screen displaying a photo taken with the camera? I would like to see how goo or bad it actually looks on the screen for caller ID purpose.

Aww, come on scott, have you seen the pics taken from the sprint phone currently available? I believe it will be the same.

I have a crappy lil 640 cam, and I love it, for what it does. I'm not expecting AMAZING shots, and although those pics looks MISERABLE, they could have been taken a little better.

640 is an artform trying to get a GOOD shot. I wish it had a flash, cuz it's gonna be basically worthless anywhere but outdoors.

I'm not saying that this is the worst I've ever seen. Most of these built-in cameras are, indeed, awful. But that doesn't mean that they have to be that way. The Nokia 3650 has been out for a long time (if you factor in how long ago it was released overseas) and it's camera is 100 times better than what I've seen from the Treo so far.

And, quite honestly, I think it's sad that I'm at the point where I would be "happy" with a phone that matched the 3650's picture quality. We all should be demanding that it be even better than the 3650's. Technology is supposed to improve over time, isn't it?

And before someone says I'm being too picky...Come on! I'm not asking for anything that isn't very easily possible. These pictures (and, yes, the pictures from most camera phones) are just plain horrible.

Yes, they really are, and i realllly want a flash to make it useful most of the time. The 1.3's just arent here yet

    stephman:
Thank you for the pic, decent quality(you've taken a few pix before, huh, it's steady, decent lighting). AND, I see you are as sick as I am... although my mock is taped and formed to a cig pack. Thanks for letting me feel just a tad bit normal.

nmotion, yeah I got problems too! I do have a cig box in there. I just didn't want to tape the top because I had cig's left in it!!

As long as I've had the 3650, Jan. 2003, I haven't nearly taken as many photos as you would think. The crappy thing is, I always forget about the camera when one of those "special" moments present itself for a shot.

The shot was taken in my office under office lighting, nothing special. The key to getting somewhat decent pics with camera phones is lighting and holding that phone still!

To be honest I was a bit dissapointed with the quality of the cam in low light situations.. I'm still hoping it is because it was a preproduction model...

The cam in my NR70v was heaps better in the same light, and that is a low-res one too..

I think that everyone is missing the point. This camera is not to take high quality pictures that you could put in a magazine or something. This camera is just to take a quick snapshot here or there when the opritunity presents itself. If you want a good camera buy and NZ90 (2.0 MP) or just a standalone digital camera. Or even...A film camera! Would you rather not have this camera? I was raised to think that something is better than nothing. If you don't like the camera paint over it! Otherwise just shut up and move along.

I am not missing the point at all, the camera in my NR70v has the same purpose and specs, yet it seems to make better pictures...
The low res camera's are more of a gimmick than a real camera, but some how the one in the treo600 I tested worked pretty poor in low light conditions on the edge of being useless..

I dont mind a low-res cam (would prefer a hi-res one though) but if you add one, make it usefull..

p.s. mwylde this thread is about the picture quality of the treo600 so dont tell people to shut up about it, that is the role of the moderators ...

Any real VGA-size pictures (640x480)? Maybe these would look better?
