The Treo 600 has gotten to me. I visit this forum multiple times a day to learn whatever I can about this device and I find myself thinking about it way too much. This realization hit me yesterday.

I am a car guy. whenever a car on the streets catches my attention, a vast array of stats and reviews pertaining to that car run through my head. BUT, yesterday I saw a red MINI and the first thing to enter my mind was a Treo 600! I'm sure I've seen that picture of the Treo 600 with the red MINI on its display a hundred times now and it has now affected the way I think. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I don't imagine that I will be well again until I have a Treo 600 in my hand!

Yes we're all pathetic treo freaks here who have a neurotic obsession with a gadget. Nothing wrong with that though!

    Yeah, me too!
I'm pretty sure that I'm turning into some obsessive-compulsive freak beacause of this damn phone. When it arrives eventually, it had better be worth all the idle daydreaming, sleepless nights, scouring the forum and general ferreting about on the net trying to get more info about the damned thing.

    Quite sad really.
I do have a life, just need to live it and stop waiting for this bloody thing!

I too have fallen victim with a couple of my associates....

its taking up no less than an hour a day for the love of G-d, its the saddest thing I've ever been a part of. And the part that I "get" the least how I've always been such a "cool" person

vasity hockey and basketball, always a good girlfirend.... and now my life has been hijacked by a freaking telephone.... HOW COULD THIS HAVE HAPPENED?

I too am obsessed, though the obsession is with smartphones in general rather than the Treo alone.

BTW, the Orange launch is kind of a cruel torture. I thought the Treo 600 would be out on the street this week in the UK, and had planned to have a friend in the UK buy one, and send it over.

Now I understand that Orange will not ship until October. Too bad. Guess we'll just have to wait until US GSM launch.

I also will be registering with the "Treo 600 Obsessed Support Group". Heck, this forum is my new home page!!! G-d do I need a life!

The one down side to this is that I haven't mentined much to my co-workers and friends for one reason: when I have one and they don't, I'll regain my "AlphaGeek" status in my circle once again. I lost some of it when many of them followed me to the Treo 270/300 and I MUST get it back! Therefore I have had to keep all my excitement inside, which, since I am normally a gregarious person...is KILLING ME!!

I constantly feel like I have the James Bond evil madman's lair self destruct countdown announcer voice telling me "2 weeks and counting" (said in some psudo German/Russian over emphasized accent...you know the one I mean ;-)

    To quote Charlie Brown "AAAAAAAUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHH"
    Geek.....me????!!!!
Thanks for the compliment, geeks run the world after all!

It's the exact shape of Devil's Tower, Wyoming. Last night I shaped my mashed potatos into a similar formation and I find myself beginning to talk like Richard Dreyfus... any ideas?

ROFL this thread has got me cracking up. Yes we are all sad, sad geeks painfully obsessed with a toy we can't even have yet. I find myself thinking about it far too much as well. I check these boards repeatedly throughout the day hoping for more info. I definately have issues.

I went so far as to buy a 256MB SD card for it already, and compiled a list of software I might consider buying for it once I know if it's compatible! I'm scaring myself!

    Wow,

I thought I was the only one that came here 2 or 3 (ok, 12) times a day. If I were to get philosophical and deep about this I would say it has to do with being the most effective with our time, and the alphageek status (I like this term and will now use it regularly) but nawwwwww, I say we are just obsessed with the coolest gadget seen for a while.

Now this type humour I understand, thanks all.

Same obsession here. I am checking these boards several times a day looking for additional information. I've rationalized this obsession by pretending that I need to have the phone before I go on an international trip (my cdma phone won't work down under ). Interestingly, my wife accepted this as a legitimate reason to buy the phone as she knew we could be in touch while I am travelling.

My wife says all kinds of nasty things to me when she sees me on this site (pathetic loser comes to mind). Obviously she is not even a betageek!

She tells me that I won't be buying any new Palm phone gadget thingies any time soon, because I just bought one last year. Ha!! So much for women's intuition!

This is hillarious...I'm you all! We aren't even supposed to web surf at work, but here i am. My rationalization is that i need it to be more productive for my company. The sad news is I driven my Handspring source into hiding...she won't even answer my phone calls to say hello anymore!!

I console myself with the knowledge that release is mere weeks away (really...only a few weeks!! please.....), and then I can go back to living my life normally...with my 600 in hand

Ha Ha ... this is too funny. We need a theme song ... perhaps to the "M.A.S.H." melody. Something to think about...

Well, if we could have the toy already, we would not be nearly as obsessed (We always want for that which we can not have -- I am sure that is a quote, or at least a very close paraphrase, but I am unsure of the source).

I stopped short of buying the memory card, because I didn't know if there would be any sort of a limit to the memory the 600 could address (like only up to a 128MB card). Hopefully there is no such limit, but I have no other devices that use SD cards, so it would only be gathering dust anyway. Perhaps someone here can respond as to whether my concerns are unfounded or not?

I have been meaning to reply to csherman's sig for a while now, and I finally have the opportunity. We do not tip at Starbucks. The jar is there for donations. As one can clearly tell by tasting their coffee, the piddling $5 they charge is not enough for them to afford good coffee beans. If they receive enough charitable contributions, perhaps they will be able to serve a decent cup of coffee. These donations may or may not be tax-dedictable, depending on your accountant

Leadtrumpetplayerdave is my hero. Where he goes, I go. What he reads, I read, what he buys....I buy. We both came, we saw, and decided that without the Treo 600, we are nothing. Does anyone know how to speed up time?
