I have a few questions about billing and frankly this place looks more helpful than sprint customer help. I have the premium vision pack for 15 dollars a month but still recieved about a 10 dollar useage surcharge and did not download anything. All I used vision for was for Yahoo mail and check scores on espn and Verichat. Is using vision for verichat outside of the unlimited use? If so I dont want to buy it, still had the trail version. Thanks for your help.

Is it "about" 10 dollars or exactly 10? Verichat is not an extra charge. What is the description of this charge?

it was $9.73 for addition vison useage. And I dont know what that would be for. The lady on the phone was not very helpful, said I should be more careful what I download, but I never downloaded anything. I went to sprintpcs.com to look at plans, I think I may have found the mistake, not sure. I had an old free and clear plan so I kept using that but added vison for 15 dollars more. The question I have is do I need to also add the vision professional pack? I dont currently have that?

Is it the same amount every month? Do you ever dialup with your treo? Fax from it, use PDAnet with an ISP, etc?

this is the first month i have had it, but I dont use it for dial up or anything else or fax. Just use it as my cell phone, and to check sports scores mostly, am a bit of a sports junky I need my scores all the time. Other than that I check Yahoo Mail and use Verichat, dont even think I have used it for anything else.

It sounds like Vision wasn't set up correctly on your account. You're not being charged for premium services like ringtones, wallpaper, games, etc. because they don't work with the Treo. Web browsing, e-mail, Verichat, etc are all free with an unlimited Vision Pack. Unless you used your Treo to send a fax or to connect to an ISP like KRamsauer said, you should have no additional charges. Call customer service again and when you get Claire, ask for a Vision Specialist. I'll bet Vision wasn't set up correctly and you're being charged by the kb as if you didn't have a Vision Pack.

Ok, what vision pack should I have? Do I need the professional pack? It's says on sprint plans that you are required to have the professional pack. I am starting to miss my old regular cell phone .

You're only required to have a Professional Pack if you have a PocketPC device. In that case, you need to buy a Professional Pack AND one of the other packs. They do that because PPC's can go through so much data. Here are the descriptions of the 3 Vision Packs right from Sprint's website:

    PCS Vision Pictures Pack
Requires a PCS Vision Picture Phone or attachable PCS Vision Camera.

    • Unlimited Picture MailSM— take, upload and send an unlimited number of pictures
    • Unlimited PCS Vision Access includes:
    • Unlimited web-based Messaging, including PCS Short Mail, with email and instant messaging from America Online® and Yahoo!®
    • Unlimited Web access
    • Up to a $5 credit per month towards the download of premium services (ringers, games, screen savers and other services)

    PCS Vision Premium Pack
Best for downloading ringers, games, screen savers and sending messages.

    • Unlimited PCS Vision Access includes:
    • Unlimited web-based Messaging, including PCS Short Mail, with email and instant messaging from America Online® and Yahoo!®
    • Unlimited Web access
    • Up to $10 credit per month towards the download of premium services (ringers, games, screen savers and other services)

    PCS Vision Professional Pack
Perfect for business people away from the office

    • Unlimited PCS Vision Access includes:
    • Unlimited web-based Messaging, including PCS Short Mail, with email and instant messaging from America Online® and Yahoo!®
    • Unlimited Web access
    • PCS Business ConnectionSM Personal Edition. Unlimited access to your Microsoft® Outlook® or Lotus® Notes company email, calendar, business directory and personal contacts in real time on select PCS Phones.
    • Customers who purchase a PCS Phone with PDA functionality that uses the Microsoft® Pocket PC operating system will need to add this pack to their PCS Free & Clear Plan with Vision for an additional $15 per month.

Basically, the Pictures Pack gives you Unlimited Picture Mail with $5 back every month towards premium services (ringers, games, wallpaper, etc). The Premium Pack gives you up to $10 back toward premium services, and the Professional Pack give you access to corporate e-mail and other services.

Keep in mind that the Treo 300 doesn't have a camera and it can't use Sprint's premium services. So the "perks" of the Picture and Premium Packs are lost on the Treo. The included benefits of the Professional Pack can be used though. If you don't need them, then it doesn't really matter what pack you have. All of them give you unlimited data on the Treo and that's what matters for most people.

Will I have the premium pack, so I will just call and vision specialist and ask whats up. The person at billing did give me a credit for the $9.73 but I dont want to go through the hassle every month. Other than that I have been happy with the treo. Battery life is not much of an issue for me, I spent so much time in my care that I can easily charge it. If I can get my billing problems fixed, I will be happy. I see some things on this board that scare me, I am just waiting for the front cover to fall off now. But then I was reading something, which makes sense, most people only post here when something is wrong, heck, thats why i posted today, so I am sure there are people out there happy with the treo.

Exactly. Most people don't post to say, "hi, it works great, just letting you know!" They report problems and ask how to fix them. It's good they credited you for the $9.73 without a problem, but you're right, it's a good idea to find out what caused the problem before it happens again. Best to nip these things in the bud. Good luck.
