the only place to go to find the status of the phone is this board. The customer service folks won't have a clue until it's out there in mass mode. The panting, obsessed folks on this forum will deliver the goods. All else is a waste of time.

I went to the Sprint store today and asked if they had any information on the release of the Treo 600. He said it probably wouldn't be for awhile and proceeded to try to sell me a Treo 300.

I am very seriously considering purchasing a Sprint service plan in conjunction with the upcoming release of the Handspring Treo 600 smartphone. I understand that Sprint does not support SMS
messaging with the current model of Treo (300). My question is: to what extent will the SMS and MMS messaging features of the Treo 600 be supported by Sprint Vision? Will (SMS/MMS) messaging with users of carriers other than Sprint (T-Mobile or Verizon, for example) be supported? Also, are any major changes to the current offering of services and pricings planned for the near future(ie. at the time of the release of the phone)? If so, what type of change (increase or decrease in pricing or service coverage)? I realize that I am asking a lot -- I appreciate your taking the time to completely respond to my inquiry so I can make an informed purchase when the product becomes available. Thank you very much for your assistance.

Since then more information about Sprint SMS has been posted here so it doesn't really matter anyway. As you can imagine, I'm going to give great feedback on that survey of theirs.
