You'll need to make one fix before I buy. When I make a call from TAKEPhone on my 600 then hangup I am sent to the standard Treo Keypad instead of back to the find screen in TAKEPhone.

This is an important feature when I am trying trying multiple phone numbers for a person and they are not at the first number.

    Thanks
Problem is the s/w interface supplied does not allow me to gain control back after a call ends (at least not when it is ended by YOU).

    The good news are:
You only need to press the "Address" button to launch TAKEphONE again, and it should open with the last search, and the last contact highlighted...

    OK.

Posted a new build at the beta page

Supposed to fix the "Press SPACE on speed-dial..." issues.

Here's a suggestion: can you make the search algorithm more like the built-in contacts search algorithm?

When using the built-in contacts app, you can search by entering the first letter of the FIRST name then the first letter of the LAST name (or another letter or two, if you still haven't found what you're looking for). It is surprisingly effective. And it somehow still recognizes company names as well (which don't have a first and last name). Try it!

I have found that what takes me 5 taps to dial in takephone takes, maybe 3 taps in the contacts search. Over the course of a day, that's a LOT of improvement (and a lot less hassle). The downside is that the thumboard keys are harder to see and to tap than takephone (esp in the car!). All in all, takephone is far superior, but man it would scream with speed if you could make takephone search this way.

Any chance you could include this search pattern as an option?

This is the one feature I really miss that built-in Contacts has. It would be terrific if this could be added to the search

Bob, the numbers do not start with a '+' or the likes. The error message I am getting from that screen is "Handspring Treo/VisorPhone interface not found!"

I am probably a bit confused..........

    Hi,

It should take ONE more tap in TAKEphONE - use the "And" button to seperate the two (on the keyboard - use SPACE). Advantage - it will search all combinations: FIRST-LAST, LAST-FIRST, LAST-COMPANY, etc...

BTW - if you are comparing the CONTACT search using the keyboard with TAKEphONE search using the screen buttons ("ABC", DEF" ...), the of course there will be a difference - that's the price you have to pay for using those big buttons (combining "ABC" together).

    Hello,

Thanks for the & tip. I've found that the search works LAST - FIRST for me, but not FIRST-LAST. Is this configurable somewhere?

    Thank you!

Please make sure the "Turbo" mode is turned OFF - when ON it uses the built-in sort, so it can only search LAST-FIRST.

If you are using TAKEphONE latest build (5.05m 98d), then please try and see if you can select Treo600SMS app as the SMS application in "Options/Preferences"==>"General (Applications)" tab, and if it does work.

    Thanks.
