There is a sound you can set, I think it's somewhere in the ringer prefs. Of course it's so pathetically quiet as to be useless.

on the subject of "no service", when this happens to me my Treo270 often never picks up TMobile again. I have to turn off service and then turn it back on to get a signal back. Is this normal?

    TIA, jim b

This is happening on my brand new Treo 650 as well, you'd think they
would make it work like an actual Cell phone by now....
So - Is there any utility that will detect when there is no service and
actually keep trying to turn it back on? I don't always notice that it's
off, and that's just not acceptable for a business tool.

you can turn on the Service Tone in the phone sound prefs...
    Palm III > HS Visor > Treo 600 > Treo 650 > Treo 750 > Treo Pro > PrePlus GSM

"95% of all software issues are due to USER ERROR."

That only helps if you happen to notice the tone, and then you still
need to manually turn the phone off and on to restore the signal.
    That's not very practical.
Surely someone can create a utility that can emulate manually
turning the phone off and on when there's no signal....
