Actually, if your interested, we have a service that allows you to use our mobile site search on your site (we currently have over 1100 optimized sites databased). Here is the link here:

Distinguish (somehow) between sites that are pure WAP vs sites that are reduced graphics or reformatted for small screen.

Pure WAP sires (WML files) are boring. Treo 650 can display html .. though reduced graphics sites load faster and display better.

When it comes to weather, stocks etc, the old WAP sites are not as desirable..

Can you put an icon or something next to the sites to make this distinction?

GFunk or anyone else that knows, skweezer is not working for my favorite internet site. What are some other proxies (proxys?) like skweezer that I might try.

I did a little browsing around but wasn't slick enough to find one. You can just post a link if that's easier.

What an awesome question. I have been wondering this for a long time. Here is a little bump to see if someone has this information.

There's a bunch of available proxies here:

    http://www.proxy4free.com/index.html

However Skeezer is an accelerating proxy which read pages and cuts down graphics, formatting and content to fit on smaller screens. Most other types of proxies are used route your traffic. These types of proxies help companies manage access and bandwidth use (they cache pages, restrict content, allow access to intranet access). All your traffic appears to come from the proxy, instead of your actual IP address. By default, Blazer on the 650 uses Sprint's proxy...

I actually found a mobile site that connects to amazon's backend and displays the results in palm-friendly page, but it doesn't work (or no longer works), any others out there similar to this?

    There's actually a couple:

You'll inevitably gather more useful links than will be easy to browse through quickly, and you already have links that some people will not need (I'll never use the AOL link for instance). If you want to make this site really useful/popular it needs to be customizable (perhaps webonMYcell.net?). Then users can "turn off" links or sections that they don't need making browsing through what's left faster for them.

It also would be good to allow users to have their own links section. I'd love to have my MyYahoo! links available at wap.Yahoo.com but that site doesn't carry over my links. By letting users enter their own links you not only make the site more useful to them, but you also gather suggestions from everyone who uses it for new mobile-friendly links to include on your main pages and can do stats mining to find out things like "which search engine is most popular with Blazer users?".

    Just some ideas,
    Ivory...
