Still down today. Didn't see any mention of planned downtime on the parent site (palmzone.net).

Previous posts give lots of suggestions for WAP and Mobile-Friendly sites.

Any new and worthwhile sites that have been discovered and not mentioned in earlier threads?

    Thanks

I originally got my Treo 650 (Sprint) because I was tired of carrying my Tungsten T & cellphone. I didn't really think I would use email or the internet. But I really like the convenience of both. I am still looking for PDA friendly websites. Here are three that I visit often. What are your favorites?

CNN - easy to navigate & fairly quick even if it is a Sprint connection
    mobile.cnn.com/xhtml/en/us/i.html

BBC World News - You see a lot of news that just doesn't make it to the States
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/text_only.stm

Internet Movie Database - Mostly text based website that is great for searching movie/actor names and other trivia.

as mentioned by someone else in separate Skweezer thread, but not in this one yet I think, Mobileleap
    http://mobileleap.net/mainsite/
    works like skweezer

    and perhaps has some advantages.

I tested it versus Skweezer with and without images turned on (Mobileleap gives more options for Image quality- I was using the lowest, which is indeed lower quality that Skweezer).

one of my favourire News sites loaded with the same # of kbs w/o Images for both , but with images: 82kbs for Mobile and 153kbs for Skweezer (but again images on Skweezer much better).

Mobileleap is however fairly new and hard to know if it will survive and if so whether it will continue to be free.

thanks for all the other suggestions. Having tried a lot of them, the one Ive been most impressed with is webonyourcell

I see that pdaportal.us is now selling their domain and pdaportal.com still works. I use to think that those two sites are one and the same.

Could such a site just have easily been handled with Bookmarks? Certainly! That said, I have plenty of clients and friends who have seen my mobile bookmarks and asked for various URLs, so I made this page instead. Its been up for 3 years now.

Is it totally complete and exhaustive? Nope. But you may rest assured that *I* use these links almost every day, and *I* find them useful for me. You may also rest assured that if you're having trouble with them, then I am too; this runs off my server.

My goal was to have a graphics-free page that loads quickly, requires no more tapping to see links, and was organized to locate sites fast. I hope this suits the bill.

Neat things to note: If you live in LA, then my LA Traffic Link will be just what you need. The various Google links pop you into the different areas of Google that are tuned for mobile devices: one shows you "normal" pages, one shows you pages that Google re-renders for mobile devices on the fly, and one shows you ONLY pages that were originally written for mobile phones. The XHTML Google has a toggle for "Google Local," which works well AND shows MAPS that appear MUCH FASTER than Mapquest.

Hope this is useful for people. It is for me...

Your mobilized TANN page is fantastic -- thanks so much for that! I have really been struggling to find a good handheld traffic site or app, and this is the best I've seen so far.

I also found some other good mobile links on your portal (Amazon Pocket PC, MobileLeap, MSN Maps & Directions Mobile, TreoBits Movies, and ZYPd) that I was not familiar with and have now added to my own Handheld-friendly Sites section of my Bookmarks page. Thanks!!

BTW, your PalmZone.net link has gone 404.

This site is typically used as a 'car payment calculator' but I've used it for every major purchase that I was financing in the last 6 years...jewelry, cars, electronics, property...basically anything with an interest rate and monthly payments.

OK. Its Fri at 4pm, my brain is fried, so maybe my search function is not working well, but I was hoping to find a list of updated mobile web sites. It would be great if there was a database, but even just a listing in a single posting, not having to read thru 14 pages.

Specifically, when I was stuck in the jet blue terminal 2 weeks ago waiting for my plane, I realized that there must be some pda friendly site that would have the info i needed. Jetblue has a great website for finding the status of the plane, however it is not pda friendly, and with a 650 and no high speed connection, it was just painful trying to get the info. (maybe a good reason to get a 700 in a few months when my new every 2 comes up, but i want palm to get something better from a 650 to 700 jump in 2 years, but that is for another forum and another thread)

Maybe there is a listing that I just can't find, and someone can point it out, or maybe this is something that we should do. There has been no activity on this thread in a looong time...

I feel your pain! I didn't read all 14 pages either. Although I did find a few good ones. Here are some you might find interesting. Unfortunately, I don't know if all of these work. Many of the ones listed in the previous 13 pages were dead, gone, defunk, etc.

Dan Harkless Bookmarks -this one is in the forum. I don't know if they all work. The last modification was 3.7.07, so many maybe good.

m.flickr.com looks really cool (in Firefox, on my desktop), but...

When I click the "Sign In" link in Blazer, I get the "Download" dialog:

    File: login
    From: http://us.wap.yahoo.com
    Size: 0.1K
    Available memory: 7.95M
Do you want to download? <yes> <no>

Huh? Does this work properly for anyone else on a Treo 650 with Blazer v4.3?
