I saw that in his hand in the post this morning and was wondering if it was the new treo.

    Cool.

It should be noted that the final formfactor of the new product may not be finalized (for another month or two), thus any current photo may not be accurate over time...

    it looks a little small.

Great find - I am working on getting a high-rez version of that photo. For a medium rez image see the Treo 600 news item.

Here is a better one http://www.treocentral.com/content/Stories/229-1.htm

The credit goes to Nrosser, Craigdts, Treopolis and (Marcus for the blow up).

And here is a mock up (not real) link from Scott R, looks decent!

Forget this picture (just for a second though! ) Did anyone notice this story? Palm Inc. is trying to buy Handspring???

Not trying, it's a done deal.

I think it probably has to pass shareholder approval on both sides.
  12. #13
Yes, of course it needs the usual approvals, but there will be no problems with those. There are no antitrust concerns, and shareholders would be stupid to nix the deal. There's very little history of friendly mergers with no antitrust problems falling apart.
  13. #14
Right, but you made it sound like it was already "done."
  14. #15
Duly noted, it's not done in the sense of the companies already being merged, etc. I guess I meant it was a done deal in the colloquial sense of a deal that may have some outstanding details but is highly unlikely to be derailed. Hawkins, Dubinsky and Colligan have committed 37.5% of Handspring's shares in favor of the deal already, for example.

Well, I figure this horse is dead enough for us to stop beating it, eh, Kurt?

Is the Treo 600 the same length or slightly longer than the Treo 300? I have seen it described as both in various posts. Can somebody clear that up for me? Thanks.
  16. #17
    1. According to Craig, it is almost the same as Treo 300.
    2. Judge it from the only leaked photo. Noting that Craig said that there are almost no space between the thumb board and the bottom.

I believe that the width of the device is also in questoin. I believe that craigdts said that it was the same width as the current Treo's screen while nrosser thought that it was a little wider than that (though still narrower than the current Treo).

For those who've handled the Treo 600. I wonder if you remember what the launcher icons looked like. Seems to me the icons on 320x320 are very obviously different than ones on 160x160. I think that the blue drop-shadow is only likely on a hirez screen because there just aren't enough pixels to make it look good on lowrez.

So.. do either of you remember if you saw the blue drop-shadows on the launcher icons. Like this:

Actually I was just playing with OS5 and OS5.2 in the simulators and they don't even have the blue drop-shadowed icons. So I don't know where they come from. Nevermind.. though I suppose if you clearly remember them, then it would kinda indicate hirez.
