It doesn't seem to have one by looking at it. I was hoping that I could use it to control my stereo equipment...

Yes it does although not a very powerful one.
It's located on topof the treo in between the power button and the slide switch.

Has anyone tried to use this as a remote control for their home audio system? It would surely beat the heck out of buying one of those fancy universals for 100 bucks. As of now, I have 5 remotes laying on my coffee table, and I always have my cell phone with me, so merging them together would seem to be a good idea. Just got the email from PalmGear advertising NoviRemote. I think I'm going to try out the trial tonight.

I think you're going to have to be so close to the units you might as well reach out and use your finger.

Yup...I just tried it. The funny thing is that my TV and cable box I needed to be right next to, but the receiver and the dvd player I could be like 20 feet away from. I wonder if I could boost the sensitivty of the IR sensors on the TV/cable box.

Probably the best universal remote software for the palm OS is pronto lite:

I don't think it will perform any better on your treo as the problem is a limitation of the IR on the treos. They have very weak flashers. But it looks cool! Kinda like philips $1000 color remote in the palm of your hand........

This looks like the hard way to do it -- I recall there was a commercial one-piece device that did the same thing, but I can't find it just now.

Well I just setup the pronto app and it works great, except that I have to be within 4 feet of the devices to use it. So pretty much worthless unless I'm sitting right in front of the TV. Still pretty cool.
