I am using the latest beta of Takephone and my screen shows "Roaming" on the display. Shimon's web page shows a fixed status for this. Anyone else with this "problem"? Seems to work ok.. I think its one of the best apps I've seen yet!

    Hi,

You mean you see the "Roaming" status ALL THE TIME ?

    Hi,
Is it possible to have support for Beyond Contacts please? What would be good to see would be the possibility to choose open/edit, and have it open the correct entry in BC. Currently, it opens the one after. It would be even better if you had the choice to read fields from the BC contacts database, but that is probably too much coding to ask for. Simply opening the right contact when BCContacts is selected in the Applications preferences would be great.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I will try to look into that, but I am surprised it open a record at all - since the database is different...

I have this as well, but this appears to be a symptom of T-Mobile. I get "Roaming" no matter where I am, all the time.

When dialing from a speed dial button, after the call I am always returned to the first page of buttons (buttons # 1-10). If the speed dial button lives on the 5th page, after the call I am returned to the first page. The built-in dialer works differently: after a speed-dialed call, I am returned to the last-dialed button/page. So, if I dial from a button on page 3, for example, when the call is completed, I am returned to page 3. This is much better. I seem to recall that this was worked out at some point but now it is back. Shimon, can this be fixed? Please...

Well - with the built-in app - it stays in place because it never leaves (dialing is done in the same app).
With TAKEphONE, when a call is initiated, TAKEphONE looses control...
When I get back - I cant really remember where I started at (because I can not be sure what happened in between).

I don't understand what you mean. Can you explain?

As I said - when you start a call, TAKEphONE is terminated.
When I get back into TAKEphONE, I have no (simple) way of knowing what happened between the time I started the call, and the time TAKEphONE is launched again, so although I could save a pointer to where I was when I started the call - I can not be sure if returning to it is desired:
    - If the call was answered, you might NOT want to return to it.
    - It could be DAYS after that call was made.
    - Maybe the device crashed, and my information is no longer relevant.
    - Maybe while on the call you DELETED that speed-dial entry.
    - ......

I go to SD view and make a call. The call ends and I am automatically and instantly returned to TP in SD view. But.. I am returned to the wrong page. What is wrong with returning to the same screen/view/page after a call ends (immediately after a call ends)? What is the logic behind returning to the top of the speed dial list if you had just dialed from the bottom of that list? For example, what if that last page has all the numbers on it needed for a series of consecutive calls, but after each call I am taken to the first page and now have to navigate to the last page for each call.

    That's the idea scenario, BUT:
what if - while on the call - you erase ALL speed-dial entries (for example).
I know this is a bit extreme example, but I am sure there are many other ways for this to get screwed up...

regarding Beyond Contacts - thanks for looking into this. if you want me to test any builds, just say. As to it opening any record at all, maybe its built to accept the "standard call", but is zero based instead of one based, for example?? Anyway, you'd kow better than me :-)

    I will try this one.
I see the instructions say to disable and delete the OS5 extensions.
Do I need to delete Takephone application before installing it? or can I hotsync the new one over it?
(I want to avoid leaving orphan files in my dwindling RAM memory).

I have FILEZ, so if there are specific files to clean up, please advise the names.

any specific instructions would be appreciated.

    Hi,

Just posted an even NEWER version - 5.05m 99z09 (at www.shsh.com/beta)

Added an option to "show roaming" (on/off) - for users having this "always roaming" issue (e.g. T-Mobile users): When this option is OFF (default) the software will only display the operator name and not roaming status.

The note at the site is about a file called "tkdialer.prc". If you have that one - remove it !

no need to remove ANY other file before installing this version.
