    Hi,

    Build 5.05m 98y1 is at www.shsh.com/beta

    It has a Treo 600 Speed-Dial fix.

    BUT MORE IMPORTANT:
I have added a BeamDial interface:
BeamDial (www.beamdial.com) is an IR dialer connecting to your landline phone, and the combination allows you to make calls via the IR port of your device !

"TAKEphONE uses the 5way fully in all of it's main screens:
    FIND, SPEED, HISTORY, REDIAL, DIAL..."

I've pulled this over from another thread (FingerDial), because I'd like to continue it.

I may be doing something wrong with the app or am just not getting it right, but I've been very disappointed by the fact that the 5-Way is NOT fully supported. There are numerous examples of how it is not fully supported. Here's just one example in beta 98x7:

Dial/Create. Any number, once entered into the 1st # slot cannot be navigated with 5-Way (backspace, yes, but that erases). Any action taken by the 5-Way takes one elsewhere in the dialog. Right opens a pop-up; left takes you to the icon tool set on the left; up goes up, down goes down. One cannot space back through the number to correct it without using the backspace button, which would erase everything. Furthermore, right opens the popup; then, try selecting create & edit (so far so good); but the subsequent edit fields are not accessible with 5-Way; and only the call button at the bottom of the screen is responsive to the 5-Way. You cannot get to the send button or the schedule button, nor are the back and open buttons accessible.

There are many other examples, but I though I'd start with this one, since it seems to be the biggest and most problematic for me.

Also, I donít understand the "spacebar function" in TP mentioned in the FingerDial thread. I get it in the built-in, but spacebar on a speedial in TP does nothing.

Hello - trying to work with Takephone for 1st time on my Treo600. Like it alot bette than on my T300...however, I cannot seem to set Internet to "Blazer" - in fact, there is no pull down coming available when I touch the arrow down...other apps just fine. Downloaded latest version just now.

Never mind - did not have the latest beta..now everything works fine, including the ZEN skin...ha! I like the way this interfaces with Agendus to schedule, etc, better than the native Agendus...great app!

    Hi,

    You are right:
    1. 5way is NOT supported in all configuration screens - I did not bother with that, since those are screens not used on a daily basis.

    2. 5way is NOT supported in "Dial/Create" form the standard way - as you describe above, and I see the need for that. I will add this as an option.

    3. 5way is NOT supported in the "Edit" form/s. I will fix this.

    4. I am not sure I understand the part about the "Call" "Send", etc. buttons. Can you provide more details ?

    5. What version arr you using ?

I like TakePhone a lot. It seems like a perfect replacement for the built-in dialer. Just a couple of observations (at least on the Sprint Treo 600) --

    1. In TakePhone there is no way to know if you have a voicemail or not. The built-in dialer shows an envelope icon on the top border by the battery when you have a voicemail. None of the TakePhone screens do. If you never drop into the built-in dialer you'll never know you have a message.

    2. The "highlight" function on the address/number lookup screens don't seem to work properly. When I do a lookup from the built-in dialer I can move the highlight using the D-pad and pick a particular number. When I do a lookup from TakePhone the highlight never shows up.

    Great product though.

I will e adding the Voice-Mail indication soon. The problem is the interface for it is claimed (by Handspring) not to always work (depending on carrier/network)...

Regarding the highlight - what version are you using ?

Thanks for your incredibly swift attention and update!

I noticed only one thing "fixed"; specifically the text field is now supported by 5Way in Dial/Create. But that is all. And you've lost the ability to 5W nav the popup menu. Maximum Right nav should get you the popup ('Menu"), no? As before. Just as maximum left nav gets you to the left-hand icons. That would be intuitive. Then, inside the popup if you select "add to book," and then Create & Edit the 5Way can only scroll, it still cannot nav through the text fields, and, as I mentioned, the only button accessible at the bottom of the screen is the SMS button. The "Back" and "Open" are not truly supported, nor are the schedule and beam buttons. Then, if you nav to the SMS button (the only button supported), from that point on the five way behaves correctly, e.g. left-nav goes back and right-nav sends to SMS, though one cannot directly nav to the "back" and "send" buttons and see a highlight and then select, left and righ nav behave more like shortcuts, rather than true navigation actions--I suppose that doesn't matter, but it would be nice if one could see it.

There is no 5Way support in any text field, e.g., in search view, if you select a contact for editing, you cannot edit text in any field. This is true for all views/dialogs and again the buttons on the bottom of the screen ("Open," "Beam," "Schedule") are not supported. Only SMS is supported and "Back" though the "Back" button is not selectable.

Here's where 5Way is reasonably supported: in History view, right nav goes to detail dialog with five buttons: Copy, back, add, find, and call. 5Way works on all of them. You can move the highlight through and onto each of these buttons. That's great. However, in the main History view dialog, you cannot 5Way nav to the bottom 3 buttons: details, find, and call. Right nav will take you to the details dialog, but it's confusing, because it just appears. Itís not intuitive.

In Search view, the drop down category menu is not accessible with 5Way.

The prefs menus have no support at all, though I imagine that is be design. Not a big deal, though it would be nice.

The short version of what I'm seeking and hoping is possible is that all buttons should be fully accessible by 5Way, and all text fields should be, too.

Sorry to be so picky about this. Itís just that the 5Way is what makes the Treo really sweet, and those programs that support it fully really deserve special attention. Perhaps Iíve been spoiled by the ongoing Datebk5 step betas, wherein the author has taken great pains to specifically accommodate the Treoís 5Way (And T3, UX50, Garmin, etc.) with unrelenting success.

Thanks for a great program, Shimon, and all your terrific efforts. Maybe just a few more betas and all those buttons and text fields will be 5Way!

Thanks for the update on the voicemail indicator. I look forward to it. Regarding the highlight --

    1. I'm on the Sprint Treo 600 running 5.05 build 98y1
    2. I'm on the speed-dial tab and I'm using the built-in speed dial items
    3. If you edit an item and select Lookup the highlight is missing. If you do the same thing from the built-in speed dial editor (i.e. off the Favorites tab) you get a highlight.

    Hope that helps.

    OK.

    Version 5.05m (99a) is at www.shsh.com/beta

It fixes the 5-way behaviour in:
    - FIND form
    - DIAL/CREATE form
    - DETAILS form

    - You will have to forgive me for not changing the behaviour at the HISTORY form (just a note - all the original buttons - find & call - are accessible from the istory-details dialog, too)

    Hi Shimon,
Sorry if this has already been covered before, but it's a damn long thread. I love your program, except for one thing: Is there anyway to keep the program running after a call has been ended. e.g. I'll make a call out of takephone and hang up... at that point instead of taking me back to takephone it takes me back to the original dial pad. If this is the regular feature of this software, then it's unfortunate b/c i'm looking for a more permanent replacement for the native dialer.
Thanks, and again apologies if this has already been covered.

Dial/Create: Definitely much better. Great work!

Find Form: Would make it complete to make the drop down category menu 5Way accessible.

Details Form(s): Still no 5Way at all. Not in the Text Fields. Not in the button fileds at the bottom of the page (back, open, beam icon, schedule icon). Only the SMS icon button can be reached with the 5Way, and once you've landed on it the 5Way is frozen there. One is then required to tap the screen to get out of it.

Thanks again for the update. I think we're almost there.

Personally, I feel that all the buttons, even in the History form, should be accessible. To be consistent would make sense and make the app more intuitive. At the moment, some of the buttons are, and some are not. None of the text fields are (Details form) except for the Dial/Create slots.

    Beta 99a
    treo600

When searching (enter one letter and then using down key on the 5 way your cursor moves to the 5 tab selectors.

How does one move to the list of names?

Once zoomed into a single persons entry - press the down key on the 5 way. your cursor highlights the SMS mesgage icon (3rd icon in the bottom row.)
There is no way to get back up into the list of valid phone numbers or move to the other possible icons in the bottom row
    .no sig.
