Treo 270 - Windows 98SE - All working fine for the last month or so since I got the thing at Xmas.

Now getting an error message almost immediately upon trying to Hotsync . .

<<An application failed to respond to a
HotSync notification. Please check the Palm Desktop for details. (8009)>>

    Palm Desktop for details???

If I do a hard reset . . I know the data and third party apps will go but will I lose my GPRS update?

I have had the thing for just over a month and I have trying and then deleting lots of software (I guess everyone does this at first). I think something called Systool will help me clean out the 'registry' on my Treo . . but will a hard reset do the same job?

Take a look at your HotSync log to see if you can determine the offending application. Chances are you installed something that setup its own conduit and then deleted it from the Treo. The conduit and/or desktop app may still be around.

GPRS is flashed into ROM, and will not be erased with a hard reset.
