There are so many posts about polyphonic ringtones. Most of them are clips of music and such. I just want some better ringtones than Treo or Powerful. Anyone know of any ringtones that are just "normal" ringtones? You know, chimes, bells, etc.. Ones that just sounds like a phone ringing and not playing music. Just trying to keep a professional ringtone....

    Thanks,

If this is such a big deal to you guys, why don't you do what many of us have and just make the ringtones you want?

If you can find a decent sampling of MIDI sounds that you would like to make ring tones out of, you can shorten them using free MIDI editing software like Anvil Studio, and then save them as a PDB with the convenient Ringtone PDB Maker linked here , and either post them to a web site or attach them to a message here.

It sure beats complaining. My original set of song-based ringtones is still up at my web site, and I anticipate having a second collection up very soon, possibly within the hour. These are song snippets, but I've tried to find some that are distinctive enough to have merit as ringtones.

I have created some "telephone" sounding ringers in Anvil, but now the Ringtone PDB Maker script seems to have moved because the link posted here no longer works. Any idea where I can find this now?

We are currently evaluating if it is detrimental for us to keep that script up now that we have launched our Ringtones for the Treo 300. It will be back in some-shape-and-form shortly though.

BTW, we will have more "phone" like sounds available soon.

    Marcus,

I understand your concerns but there are very few of us who actually have the time to make our own ringtones so I really don't think that by keeping your web page up that it will be detrimental to you guys. Surely there are enough Treo 300 people out there ? I have made 2 ringtones for myself and have bought several too. I'm quite happy to buy (and I expect most people are) but it is nice to be able to have the ability to create the occasional ringtone that I crave.

Please, put the page back up. It will be much appreciated.

    I second that!

I will still buy from you.. MUCH easier! Howeverm to make an occasional ringtone would be nice..... I do not think one will cannabilize the other.

Please fix the checkout in TC Ringer purchase...

I'm sure this has been asked many times, but I just want to make sure...if I have Ringo for my Treo 300, do I need TCRinger, or can I just download ringtones from TC and use Ringo?

You can download tunes without TC Ringer. To test it out, you can download some of the free samples.

    I agree!
I beta tested TCRinger and it's a great program, but I really want purchase/use it until more phone type ringtones are available.

How do you use the tool?

you select the midi files you want to make into ringtones and use the tool to make them into a pdb. just follow along the steps. there are a number of other threads on this board you can read for more details on making ringtones

Is there any way to convert a wav or mp3 into a midi file to make into ringtones?

I also will wait for some "normal" ringtones before I purchase TC Ringer.

sheesh. based on all this demand, maybe i will try to find some 'normal' sounds... will have to give it some thought. most midi files are of songs not sounds, but i suspect there are some things out there...

I will chime in here too. While I might DL a couple of song type rings, I mostly want more professional sounding phone rings, but that are distinctive enough to let me identify the caller. Please add a selection of these to the TC Ringer database and I'm sure many of us will be buying then.

When I first started this thread I thought I was all alone, I'm glad there are others out there looking for "professional" sounding ringtones that are not songs. I too will buy this program when these come available.

I've created a couple more professional, and more "classic" sounding ringers with Anvil Studio over the last couple of days, but they all turn out so quiet once I get them on the treo. As soon as I figure out what I'm doing and get them to a reasonable level I'll make them available. Has anyone else experienced this?

I agree. Music clips may sound real neat the first 10 times, but they get old for some of us. The most unique ring I've heard is one found on a Nextel i2000plus that I setup for my boss.
