Noticed that Agendus/Action Names 6.0 was out and I was curious whether anyone had taken a look at it yet. I've been using AN for several years and have found it indispensable, but upgrades haven't always been too impressive. Anyone given it a try yet?

I'm just about to try it out. The ability to use a GIF as a graphical backround is neat. It looks like I will need to use something like FILEBOX to transfer a GIF to the Treo.

I had Agendus 5 and got the new v6 yesterday and it looks polished and well-done, except that I was disappointed to find that, even though Meetings can now have Categories, as they can on the Palm Desktop, you still cannot assign colors or other attributes by Category, which is what I was hoping was supposed to be in this new release.

All you can do with the Categories is filter the display of Meetings, which I think is unwise, since I for one need to know every appointment I have for the day, not just ones fitting in a certain category.

I was hoping to be able assign colors to categories of meetings, as I do on Palm Desktop, where I add emphasis to the ones which require the most advance preparation, by coding them red, but I wanted to be able to do this en masse when hotsynching them over from the Desktop, as it is impractical to change the color of the font for each individual entry.

But Agendus is a very good product in all other respects, and I use it intensively.

well I have had my treo since christmas. Trial of Datebk was good but since I got Agendus there is no contest! Agendus is great . .downloaded 6.0 yesterday . . . . but seems SLOWER than the 5.? I had two days ago . . . I guess its the extra icons and stuff.

Curious why Meetings cant be icon or colour by catagory. Definately buying ot though . . the 'sort by' buttion on the contacts is worth the money in itself! 2 questions : -

1 - Can anyone tell me whats wrong with my 'Annual Events' view.
I have birthdays set as yearly repeats and they all seem to be on the right days in the 'Year View' but in 'Annual Events' list they all have strange January dates listed down the left hand side?? Is this a bug?

2 - Is it just me or is Iambic Mail really bad? Its nice to have the 'email' icon in Agendus but can I not configure it to launch Snappermail instead. I WONT be buying IambicMail.

God. I was hoping they would get around to implementing tasks that span midnight (meetings, travel, etc.) and time zones. This product is great but since I do a lot of international travel, I really really need this capability. Oh well, I guess its back to Datebook5.

Thanks for pointing that out. I don't see that feature in the demo or the manual. I'll look again. I do wish they would implement time zones so I could see when meetings or calls take place in other time zones. I guess one can't have everything.

It is mentioned on their website in one of the demo screens . . . . . . .

"The new Time Picker feature lets you select a date and time for meetings, alarms, to-dos and other activities quickly and precisely. In addition, you can set the Time Picker for an appointment that extends past midnight, is scheduled for the next day or several days in advance."

    . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . not tried it yet though.

Yup, I see the mention on the web site but I don't see it in 6.0. Unless I am missing someting (it wouldn't be the first time), the time picker does not allow for this.

If you find out more, let me know, please.

I moved a GIF to my Treo 300 using FileBox, but it seems Agendus will only use GIFs from removable media for the wallpaper. any way around this?

Nevermind. I found it. It is in the time picker not the date picker and a bit confusing but it is there. One just has to look at the times. Not particularly intuitive, IMO. But alas, no timezone considerations so when you arrive at your destination after a 11 hour flight and a 13 hour time change, Agendus can't make the change in dates. Bummer, bummer.

After all the rave reviews of version 6.0 I downloaded it and am now on day three of my 30 day trial. Very impressive, last time I tried it was 3 years ago and they have come a long way. Don't know if it will replace Datebk 6 (beta) on my Prisim but it is a very tough decesion. One side note, go to Palmgear and try the free program Colorize it will jazz up either program. If anybody has switched from Datebk and is not a power user I'd love to hear the reason.

I tried version 6 as well and while it has a cool interface and it is fairly easy to use, I prefer the flexibility of Datebk5 and especially Datebk5's focus on the business traveler in supporting time zones, for instance. I can do everything and more with Datebk5 as I can do with Agendus 6.0. As with most everything else, there is a trade-off between flexibility and ease-of-use and everyone will have their own needs and requirements.

For what ever reason I'm not sure, after upgrading to v6 of Agendus, whenever I perform a hotsync in the cradle and after the hotsync is complete it launches Datebk+. I get a blank screen, than it says "scanning" in the top left corner of the screen and than launches DateBk+.
    Has anyone else experienced this?
It didn't do it right away and shortly afterwards I also added a couple of pqa's to my growing mix and thought it was a pqa so I removed the 2 pqa's that I added and it stopped launching Agendus. So I thought for what ever reason it must have been a pqa, but then today it's doing it again.

    Any ideas?

I have been using Agendus Palm for about a year and Agendus Desktop since it was released in the Fall 2002. Agendus 6 seemed to fix a great deal of problems that have bugged me (ie: Midnight carry over).

I use Key Contacts for my addresses. It is more indepth than other Contact managers, even Agendus.

Does anybody know how to in-port the address book from Key Contacts or Outlook into Agendus? I have Agendus set to sync with Outlook but it is not doing it. I contact Iambic customer service, but they were not much help. I received some canned, help topic answer that was no help.

I appreciate any help on this matter. Thanks.

You are unable to sync Agendus with MS Outlook because the data conduits (bridge) in place is designed to sync data with KeyContacts only. I do not think that you cannot sync data with KeyContacts and another PIM app at the same time.

That is not true. I have succesfully been syncing my Treo's native Phone Book and KeyContacts simultaneously for a long time now and I have had no problems whatsoever. By the way I also have Agendus installed and it uses the database of the native Phone Book which is updated and synced along with KeyContacts each time I do my Hotsync.

    Sanjay,

This is very good news to hear that Agendus & Key Contacts works and Sync without problems. The question I have is how do I get my computer to do it? What are your conduit setting or the like? Did you do anything special? I used all the native settings when installing both Agendus & Key Contacts. I cannot use Agendus for the address book. I really appreciate your help in this matter.

    Thanks,
    Russell

    Fender,

Post a copy of your conduit settings and their actions. We may be able to figure out what the problem is from that.

Actually I have done nothing special. Although when you install KeyContacts, at the end it asks if you want to turn off the previous conduit that syncs with Outlook and make the KeyContacts conduit your only sync program for Outlook, in response to this, I said NO.

This allows me to keep both my native Treo Phone Book database (which is the database that Agendus also uses) and KeyContacts to be synced with Outlook. As for how additions/changes made on the PDA are dealt with is quite simple. If I make a additionchange in the Native Phone Book that is updated to Outlook on the next Hotsync and then in turn on the next (2nd) Hotsync KeyContacts is updated by Outlook. Changes & additions made in KeyContacts also get updated to Outlook on the next Hotsync and then Outlook updates the Native Phone Book on the next (2nd) Hotsync. Personally I try to make all my changes and additions to KeyContacts which allows me access to a lot more fields and also lets me enter a lot more data than the Native Phone Book does.

I hope this helps, if not, then let me know and I will try and help as best as I can.

By the way is it not a shame that we cannot replace the Native Phone Book database with that of KeyContacts and not have to keep both and waste a lot of memory. I wish Keycontacts will be upgraded at some stage to be linked to the phone functions (primarily Caller ID and Call History functions) of the Treo which would allow us to delete the obsolete and totally useless Native Phone Book of Treo/Palm.
