Is there anyone having problems receiving SMS (short-mail) messages on SprintPCS using Treo300SMS now that Sprint has gone to a new, two password (master and Vision) authentication to get to the messaging web page? Ever since they made that change (today), I cannot receive SMS messages. As usual, Sprint says it is a PDAapps (Treo300SMS) problem. <sigh>

That's nice to know (I think). I guess it is back to support . With four SprintPCS phones in my family, I seem to spend half my life talking to support about one thing or another. Ho hum.

Whoa whoa whoa!!! Hold the boat. Treo300SMS is not working anymore????

I want to know this before I go out and purchase the Treo 300.

Thats one advantage of the Treo 270 over the 300.

Like I said, it still works fine for me. I've been using two different logins and passwords for my Sprint PCS account for a while now. I actually have 3 phones on my account.

Maybe the original poster can give a little more information for troubleshooting?

As I alluded, this appears to be a problem between me and Sprint (unfortunately). It was "only" coincidental that I stopped receiving SMS messages when Sprint went to a new log-in screen. PDAapps verifies that they do not have any reported problems.

What I am finding that while I can send SMS messages to other users, I cannot send messages to myself nor do I receive messages from other people. Upon investigation, I found that the messages are not even appearing in my "short mail inbox." This sort of tells me that this is a problem with Sprint and not the Treo/Treo300SMS. Even if the device/software was not working, the incoming messages should be in the short mail inbox. So, as I write this, I am on hold with SPCS technical support (35 minutes now).

Treo300SMS is a great app. Buy it!

I had a similar problem a while back. If your in the same boat that I was, you were a 2G user (ie - You had an @sprintpcs.com email address or at least used the 2G wireless web). The problem for you (If my first statement is correct) is that your SMS messages are now being routed to the 2G network and not the 3G. I spent countless hours on the phone with the Vision Specialists, until I finally got one who knew what to do. What finally made my problem with SMS go away was to have them completely blast me from their system. Not just re-provision, but competely delete me from Sprint as a subscriber. After that, they added me in as a new customer and, poof, no more SMS problems.

I do have a problem with the web site and my @sprintpcs.com e-mail address, but I odn't use it, so I left that one alone.

Can you just send an SMS like T Mobile's Treo 270?

You can just put in the email address(xxxx@yahoo.com) into the "To" field. And send the SMS message.

And the recipient will see your T Mobile SMS email addy (xxxx@tmomail.com).

Is this possible with the Treo 300SMS software?

    Thanks,

    Stan

No, this particular line is a brand new subscription. Vision from the start. It has been working fine up until Sunday and now nothing. I don't believe it has anything to do with the Treo 300 as the short mail messages never show up in the short mail inbox not matter how they are sent (another PCS phone, web site, etc.). 1 hour and 45 minutes on the phone today got be to level 2 support and then their (SprintPCS) web site went down and they couldn't trouble shoot. The standard trouble ticket and 4 days to resolve. That's what they think. Just wait until tomorrow.

Thanks for the suggestions. It was brought up in the conversation that somehow I may have been switched to 2G. We will see.
