The "pita" on the Treo is the battery, thats why were trying to imagine a system using the BSL 11 battery from Ericsson implanted as a second battery on the back hood of the treo.
From various tests made from a swiss sorcerer on a vx, autonomy can go up to 2 weeks, it seems that tension, voltage, regulation are compatible... will try just when the guaranty is over :-)
Did anybody else tried or dreamed about something like this ?

See another picture from a battery-supply implementation, made by an anonymous society based in Genvea, Switzerland...

    Nice, no?
We will give you up-to-date news about our tests and experiments....

During the next week (23.09 to 30.09) the test n 1 will be made with the treo 180g and an ericsson battery. This will be a soft test, without hard interventions.
You will be able to see all the procedure and conclusions at the following url:

    Good night!

I'm very intrigued by your solution.

I was on a flight the other week and saw an ad for a solar powered battery pack for I believe an Ericsson (I forget which model) phone. Then I wondered why this couldn't be done with a Treo? If this were the case, I'd never have to worry about charging a second battery ... just snap on the solar pack and let it charge my battery as I was talking.

The second battery system seems to work just like a "charger", loading the internal battery.
I'm looking for a "coupleur Cartier", a small system who does the switch from one battery to another without interuption, this system was used in cars, i wonder if we can find it for this.

    Magnifique

iSUN do a solar charger but not sure if it will fit to a Treo...

    Bonne chance tous !

    Hmm, why not ?
Not really small :-) but we should check

..and i'm looking forward to see the results of the tests :-)

    Yop!
The tests should begin tomorow... Today I have been a victim of a terrible shortcut occured in all my building, wich have tramsformed my power supply in toaster, and one of my cd-rom drives in uranium powered barbecue.... But my two hard-drives and my motherboard / CPU are OK...
Now everything is ok, I have bought a new tower (all black with monstruous fans, you know), and a 400w power supply with two security fusibles... now I am ready to proceed quietly to the test n one...
Have a good night (wihtout shortcuts) ;-)

    uranium powered barbecue....
There are millions of men across the nation who are dreaming of just such a device.

Ah ah, he is going to do it :-)

The test number one has been done. You can see the results here: http://www.racinecarree.ch/0010_ESSAIS/treo_test/
This is a preleminary test, only about power supply.

If someone know where I can find a Treo empty case, I'm intrested!

And what are the additional holes near the SIM door for? cooling? microphone? vibration?

    Puzzled...

For now, the treo with supplementary battery works correctly. I have switched on the mobile phone on yesterday at 3.28 pm after a full charge, and keeped it on for all the night. Now, the battery level is 100%, 2,77 V, based on the informations of BatteryHack. I have made 5 calls, total talk time 45' 58''... I'm going to wait for the battery warning, so I can really see what is the autonomy....
All the results and comments are here, in french:

Thanks to moinefou for her helpful comments....

    After a try on the Ericsson battery, i'll shift to a 7110 Li-Ion battery, a 3.7 v aluminium cased.
When i took off the plastic case around the battery, i was surprised to see that there is a small circuit.. oups, i'm going to keep it ;-)
