I recently read a post about viewing weather maps on the Treo and realized that the same process can be used for webcams. I use it a lot for traffic cams. Here's how it works:

    1. Go to your favorite webcam site and right-click on the image (non-java).

    2. Select "Properties" and write down the url.

    3. Enter the url into your Treo browser as a bookmark. (NOTE: Here's a shortcut, if you use Outlook, you can copy multiple url's in a "Note," then sync and paste from MemoPad to save time.)

    4. Now just use the bookmark to go to the webcam.

In the case of traffic cams, you now have nearly "real-time" traffic flow!! How's that for completely undermining the entire telematics industry?

Here's a sample (traffic cam in Issaquah, WA where I live):

So next time someone says, "I wonder what the snow is like in Aspen?"

You can say, "Well, let's take a look ...."

How do you represent an underscore?

    underscore:
    blue
    p
    ...
    space

Are any of those web cams ones that update the image every so often?

I loaded one, waited a minute and hit refresh and yes the image was updated.

Is the "Camera Image Temporarily Unavailable" because a car rammed into it, causing a massive traffic jam?

So next time someone says, "I wonder what the snow is like in Aspen?"
You can respond, "Who knows? But here's what it looked like last April..."

Just kidding. Presumably they'll start updating the image again come snow season.

Of course ideally the web browser on the Treo should be functional enough to navigate to these images even if you haven't pre-plucked the URLs from your desktop browser.
