I want to place lots of phone calls across the US with my calling card because I do NOT have a national plan.

Is there a software utility that will:
    ()dial the access code
    ()dial my PIN
()then dial a phone number that I designate.

The TREO does not have the capability to take such a long string of characters separted by commas or pauses.

Any ideas of software? I tried the Takephone software but it didn't work for me.

    Hi,

What exactly did not work ?
Can you give an example of how you dial a number (of course - without idsclosing your PIN) ?

I am sure I can help you sort this out !

    Hi again,

Just of the top of my hat (is that the way it is phrased ?) -
    Try defining the script as:

    "acces-code" x "PIN" TN

e.g.: Say your access code is 18001234567, and your PIN is 007,
then the script should be something like:
    18001234567x007TN

Shimon, Thank you for helping me!

I am having difficulty understanding how to use TakePhone to place a long distance call within the US.

Please let me know EXACTLY what fields to fill in to place the following call. Of course, I have changed some of the data:

    Access number is: 206 323 0000
Then I must press my ID of: 206 946 3340
Then I must press PIN of: 2345
Then I must hit the phone number for John Smith: 770 888 1234

EXACTLY how do I accomplish this on the Treo WITH or WITHOUT the TakePhone application? Can it be done without the Takephone application?

    Hi,

    Try the following:

    Phone1 (SCRIPT): 2063230000x2069463340T2345iN
    Phone2 (PREFIX): 1

    In "Options/Telephony preferences" set:
    Country-Code = 1
    Area-code= (empty)
Dialing rules -> 011 before international
Dialing rules -> 1 before long distance

Let me know if this works.

I do not know of a way to do this without TAKEphONE.

    Hi,

Just went over your post again, and suspected I may be wrong:

Let's make sure I understand you:

    1. You are from the US ==> Country code is: 1
    2. You are in area-code: 206

    3. How do you store phone numbers in your address book ?
    - Is it "206 123 4567" and "770 888 1234" ?
    - Or is it "(206) 123 4567" and "(770) 888 1234"
    - Or any other format ?

    4. Regularly (without a calling-card) - how would you dial
those numbers on your Treo ?
    - Local numbers ==> "2061234567" ?
    - Long distance ==> "17708881234" ?
    - Or is it always without the "1" ("2061234567" and "17708881234") ?

    5. And you want to use your calling-card only for calls out
of the 206 area code ?

Shimon, Thanks for your great support! I would definitely register for your software when I understand how to work it properly.

Let me state my situation clearly.

    Here are my facts:
I only have ONE long distance calling card that I will ever use. That is Net2Phone. Its access number is 206-323-0000. After the access number, I must enter my ID of 206-946-3300. Then I can immediatley enter my PIN of 2345.

Here is what I want to do:
I have several hundred long-distance phone numbers. I want to click on a longdistance phone number like 619-221-0555. I want TakePHone to automatically dial the NEt2Phone access number, ID, and PIN and THEN IMMEDIATELY DIAL THIS PHONE NUMBER.

Can TakePHone accomplish that....or do I need to re-program all those longdistance numbers?

Please give me an EXACT idea of how to do the above example? I had 3 programmers look at the Help instructions and we were all mystified!

    Thanks for your great support!

    Hi,

Of course re-programming all long-distance numbers would not do.

My question is - how can my s/w differentiate between the long-distance and local numbers ?
How (exactly) are they stored in your address book ?
Can you give me an example of a long-distance (the way you store it in the address-book) and a local number ?

And how would you dial a local number (without the calling-card) ?

One more thing - to save space on this forum - could we discuss this over emails (mine is shimon@shsh.com) ?
Once we get to a final resolution, then we can publish it here, for the benefit of all...

I'm not sure about the original question - but just an FYI - Nokia's have this feature and I LOVE IT. It's great not having to punch in all those digits all the time for everysingle call!!!

    Hi,

For all those who folloed this thread - problem was solved, you can use TAKEphONE (http://www.shsh.com) and define a Calling-Card.

Note: Since the Treo eliminates all 'T's and 'P's from the dialed number, you should use the "Extra digits" mechanism:

    - Start the calling-card script with the access-number followed by an 'x', then the PIN/User-Code/etc.
    E.g. - 18001234567x007T123456TN
(Treo will dial the access-number 18001234567, then wait for an answer, displaying the "Extra-digits" button, when you tap it - it will dial the rest of the number).

    Enjoy TAKEphONE !
