it's a file that's used to patch the OS on Handspring PDAs.

I wouldn't have thought this version was necessary on Treo's though.

Did you transfer data over from a previous Handspring?

Yes, I had a Visor Prism, and remember installing Handspring Extensions on it.

However, I deleted this file from my backup, and did a hard reset on my Treo 270.

The Extensions file is no longer on my PC that I hotsync with. Then I do a hotsync to a fresh and new Treo 270 and the Extensions file appears again on my PC backup folder. I did this several times, and it always appears in my PC backup folder.

    Hi Stan,

If you look in the Palm folder, there should be an update folder. If you move the files in the 3.52 folder somewhere outside your updates folder, they won't be reinstalled on your Treo at hotsync.

    I hope this helps,
    Rob

Do we need that extensions file? I was thinking that may be a cause to slow Treo operation. But Handspring verified the treo 270 series are inherently slow.

But the default installation of the Treo 270 software on my PC already gives the extensions to my Treo upon hotsync. I guess it is needed.

    Thanks for the info.

Could you elaborate on what Handspring said about the speed of the 270?

Thank you for contacting Handspring Wireless Support.

We understand that you your phone functions are slow. The "problem" that you
described in your message is normal for all Treo 270. The Treo 270 does take
a few seconds to start dialing. Unfortunately, there is no way to speed
    things up.
