Quick question for anyone using VoiceStream. When you click on your SIM Srvcs app, do you get an error saying there is nothing in there or not provided by your provider?

I wasn under the impression that my phone detail is on the SIM, therefore I should see something at least?

Any insight on this would be helpful for my knowledge base.

I believe from what I've read that Sim Services are SMS based requests like weather, news, scores etc.

You would click on weather...send the request via sms and it would return an sms message with the data specified.

I am guessing at this...does anyone know if I am right or wrong?

If this is correct...I believe Voicestream's "SMS on Demand" only works on certsin model phones right now.

    Just a guess.

Nope. BTW, you can do this with a cool app called VSAlerts. Get it here.

To read Handspring's description of SIM Services, see these links:

    VoiceStream doesn't have any.

Awesome little APP!!!!! Good thing I up'pd my Ping-Pong to 500 messages!

BTW, why can't these carriers open up these services like their counterparts in the UK and Europe have? Is it the FCC?

Beware! VoiceStream charges a surcharge for every use of these services. I tried this app and downloaded news headlines. Saw a $.20 charge added to my bill for it. Seems pretty pricey for stuff you can get over the net for the price of a call.
