I need to get a replacement USB HotSync cable (my dog ate the
original one, really! and I am wondering whether I should buy
    A) the Handspring one for $25 (backordered until next week) which
requires the charger cable plugged into it, or

    B) a USB cable such as Cable 1
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1356091975

    OR Cable 2

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1356125015

that provide power through the USB port, rather than requiring a
separate charger cable. Anyone have any information to help with this
decision? I'm wondering if these cables (B) are safe and won't
overcharge the Treo. Why wouldn't Handspring have designed the cable
this way if it worked ok?

    Thanks.

Handspring designed the 2-piece cable so that you can take only the power part as a travel charger.
