I've used IndiVideo's RsrcEdit available at http://www.individeo.net/ and even wrote up a bit of a tutorial (although it was another thread on this forum that lead me to this program).

Datebk4 includes a Color Icon Editor in its zipped download package. I don't know a whole lot about Color Icon Editors, in general, but this one is easy to use and very intuitive.

thank you thank you thank you thank you !! I've been trying to get this for awhile. I won't be altering color icons (since I'm moving to a bw treo soon), but some of my icons have been stuck with annoying SilverScreen ones for quite some time!

Question: will the 8 bit icons be shown in full grayscale? Or should I delete the 8 bit icons and create 2 bit icons if I want pretty Greyscale icons?

Um... I think if you take an 8 bit and copy it then you can paste it as a 2 bit and it will convert to greyscale. I'm not sure if 8 bit images will automatically show up as greyscale if your device does not support color. Let me know what you find out.

Crustytrusty - no problem. I've spent many hours adapting my files. The one thing I wish I could do was save them into a third program. When you install a new version of a program you've changed then the icons and other bitmaps are lost. So if I remember then I'll copy the icon to something else, install the update, and then copy and paste the image back. A bit of hassle - but worth the customization in my opinion.

Please share screenshots of what you've made. Thanks!

Thanks zieak! I've already spent more time than I should customizing icons.

I've got a question: It looks to me like the tAIB1001 resource is the small icon. So I tried creating an icon and giving it that name in an app that doesn't have a small icon. But it doesn't use it. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.
