Odd... try this: instead of clicking the link to downlaod the file, right-click and select Save Target As... You should be prompted to save the file under the default WSSetup.exe. Rename it to WSSetup212.exe and click Save. Then try running that file.

I'm running Wordsmith 2.1.2 and can't figure out what a certain option in the menu does. Under File, tap on "Select Doc" (the shortcut is :menu: 1). Does it do anything for anyone? On my m505, it pops-up a window telling me how to select documents . LOL!

I just realized it might be there to help people who don't know how to select a file by tapping and holding. I've been using Wordsmith so much that I didn't realize people might not know how to select a document. How helpful of BlueNomad

wow. that's one slooooow dictionary. took about 12 minutes to spellcheck my 864 word document. and it was amazing what words weren't in the ("large") dictionary.

    worked, though.

It is extremely slow. That has been the biggest complaint so far. In fact, one of the delays in getting 2.1 out was BlueNomad trying to increase performance of the SpellCheck.

Still pretty cool that they managed to include it.

I got the update, and they have fixed the 'user dictionary bug'. Now you can create dictionaries and add words to it, very cool.

Man - I wish I could put the dictionary on my CF card! It's huge!

I did manage to free up some RAM by moving WS to the card and launching it via a shortcut w/ LauncherIII, but it then won't sync (seems to be a LIII problem.) But, I usually don't have my CF card in, but my Thinmodem+ is, and that has 8MB flash RAM to use and since it is seen at the OS level, I am thinking WS will sync as long as I have my modem in, and not my CF adapter. Tried it, and the WS conduit does not seem to like that combo.

So I am thinking that maybe I can move the dictionaries to the flash RAM on my TM+, and no, spell check doesn't work. Actually it works, but it has no words. The good thing though is it make the spellchecking go very quick. Maybe I'll have to switch to the small dictionary and dump the thesaurus (don't really use it much anyway, but I am starting school again after the first of the year, so maybe....)

I also saw a post in the Yahoo Groups that you can use the same dictionaries with the DDH product if you happen to have that application.

    Greetings,

When I upgrade from 2.1.1 to 2.1.2, do I just need to reinstall the WordSmith app, or do I have reinstall all the other components as well?

    Thanks,

I subscribe to the better safe than sorry way of thinking and would recommend reinstalling everything.

    Mark,

The reason I'd rather not reinstall everything is that I assume that I'd lose any additions that I've made to the spelling dictionary. Isn't reinstalling the Wordsmith app alone sufficient?

    Anybody know for sure?

You can probably safely not install a new version of the dictionary. Certainly, the PRC files (WordSmith and SpellSmith) along with the conduit should be re-installed.

Actually, in a reply to a similar question on the Wordsmith mailing list, Blue Nomad support said that only the Wordsmith application needs to be reinstalled if you are upgrading from 2.1.1. The dictionary, thesaurus, and spellsmith don't need to be resynced.

Thanks for the help guys. Now if I could just get some assistance with my font problem, I'll be all set. The thread is located at:
