I have some palm applications beamed from friends' visors.
Can I copy or sync them from my VDX to my PC?

    Thanks

If you're using the latest version of the hotsync manager, the apps should be in backup directory on the PC.

Which version is the latest version? Mine is 3.0.2H.
Some apps are in the "Add-on" folder, some are in the "backup" folder.
However there are still some apps I couldn't find in my PC. Do I have to upgrade my hotsync manager? Is it possible to copy them to my PC.
    Thanks.

The latest HotSync Manager version from Handspring is 3.1.2H. It is part of the Palm Desktop 4.0.1.

Apps are typically backed up to the "backup" folder during a sync (when using the latest version). There is no way to simply "copy" apps from the handheld to the desktop.

I installed Palm desktop 4.0.1 and sync my VDX. However I couldn't find all apps in the backup folder and add-on folder. Did I miss some setting?
    For example:
I have BigClock and DiddleBug in my VDX but I only find DiddleBugDB.PDB and BigClock_data.PDB in the backup folder. No application file at all.
    Thanks.

One thing I've noticed is that by default the HotSynch Manager will only backup third-party data and not the third-party programs themselves. You could use an application like Z'Catalog (aka ZarfCatalog) to set the backup bits for those applications.

There's some other small utilities that will simply set the backup bits for all the apps and databases on your device. I'd supply you with some links but PalmGear is down right now and I don't recall the names. Anyone...?

I think BackUpAll (freeware) will enable the backup bit on all applications for you.

After using this, you SHOULD see all your apps in the backup folder.

Many thanks to all of you. I am happy now. I can see all of my apps in the Backup folder.
