File mover, on my 8MB module allowed me to place any file (that i wanted to) on the module and access it seamlessely. I could place Quickoffice on it and it would see it during a hotsynch and would update accordingly.
PiDirect (I'm not sold on it yet) in it's unregistered form will only allow 20 files, and will not synch any of my two way third party software while it's on my CF card, and seems to be slower than file mover. Maybe the registered version will allow both of these.
Here's my point, I just updated my thinmodem and can get the file mover file off the module on the handheld (I think, I tried the Xircom modem as well, ended up with thinmodem), but they both use filemover. Is it possible for the file mover program, if placed on my CF card, to act like the 8MB module does? Just a thought.

    Prism
    Memplug
    64MB card

In a word, no. The FileMover app only recognizes the specific type of FlashRAM contained on 8mb module. It cannot directly read from a CF or SM card. Supposedly, Kopsis is trying to modify the FileMover app to work with VFS thereby (hopefully) allowing to to read and write to CF or SM cards.

Not exactly. Actually, what we've done is created a version of the HS FileMover app that will let FlashPlus users keep apps and data in the "leftover" 700KB of flash that is built into the module itself.

The reason File Mover works so well with the 8MB flash module has nothing to do with the File Mover software. It's because the "flash" in the module is wired up directly to the Visor's CPU. The Visor doesn't need any software to read the apps and data that are on the module.

The same will never be true for any type of CF, SmartMedia, MemoryStick, SD/MMC, etc. adapter module because all require a "layer" of driver software to let the Visor see what's on there.

It is currently included with the beta version of v2.0.0 of our FlashAdapter Software. Registered users of FAFileMover can download the beta from http://kopsisengineering.com/dl_beta.html

Note that we strongly advise that beta testers subscribe to the flashadapter-forum (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/flashadapter-forum) since all potentially dangerous bugs uncovered by testers as well as announcements of new beta releases are reported there. Support for the beta is only provided through the flashadapter-forum.
