Here are the 10 programs I now feel I would wither into a corner if I didn't have them, in order:

    1) Datebk 4 (shareware - $25)
    2) Wordsmith (shareware - $30)
    3) PiDirect (requires MemPlug - $10)
    4) AvantGo (freeware - served as my newspaper service while I lived in Arizona this summer)
    5) 4.0Student (shareware - ?)
    6) BugMe! Messenger (DiddleBug or regular BugMe could probably serve this purpose but I got BugMe! Messenger because of its support of eyemodule 2 images - $30)
    7) Noah Lite or Pro (Lite - freeware; Pro - shareware - $20)
    8) Tomeraider or isilo (these have the most popular proprietary formats for Palm OS on memoware.com)
    9) Acrobat Reader (freeware)
    10) Eudora for Palm OS (freeware)

Hmmm. Toughy. But I now have 24mb on my Visor, so piggishness reigns. In no specific order.

    1. Avantgo
    2. Datebk4
    3. TealLock (security, security, security)
    4. Noah Pro Dictionary
    5. SplashID encryption (good and cheap)
    6. Quickword
    7. Wordsmith
    8. iSilo
    9. ThinkingBytes (nice interface if a little unstable)
    10. X-Master (gotta love them hacks...switched over from hackmaster and it is MUCH more stable)
    11. Bigclock
    12. Diddlebug
    13. Metro
    14. Launcher III
    15. TealPhone
    16. Dates!
    17. Mapquest
    18. Alltime

Whew...that's enough. Now if HS will just release a Visor Pro with a high res screen, a better speaker, and a color OTHER than silver, I'm buyin'.

I've tried nearly 500 programs and ebooks over the past 2 years. Here's the ones I use over and over again:

    1. Shadow Planner ($13) - most-useful color outliner/planner. so many features it's bound to have some that no one else has thought of

    2. SplashMoney ($10 w/pkg) - don't need Money/Quicken anymore, this imports qifs directly!

    3. SplashID ($10 w/pkg) - desktop and color make this worth the bucks

    4. HS HandyShopper (free) - ultimate grocery list.

    5. AvantGo (free) - I read VisorCentral here for months before I realized there was a Web site!

    6. iSilo (free) - I use PalmReader (free) when I need to buy a book, but prefer iSilo for its large bold font

    7. QuickSwitch ($10) - customize buttons to open multiple apps. SingleHander ($5 share) is similar one-button lookup for addresses

    8. BigClock (free) - my watch broke. this is great launched from a button

    9. thinkDB ($40 ) - expensive but great match for anyone who uses Access or SQL databases.

    10. OmniSky mail ($ monthly wireless fee) - indispensable for work 1-3x a month

Productivity for the other side of my brain:

    1. Blazer ($20) - surfing the wireless Web in color is cool tho slow (update: 2.0 beta is much faster)

    2. AutoHaiku (shareware) - random acts of poetry

    3. SplashPhoto ($10 w/pkg) - I tried lots of free photo programs, but this one is far and away the fastest, esp. w/16-bit color.

Most of the apps I value are previously listed, with the exception of the new PocketExpress versions of Joust, Defender and Sinistar. I had been waiting for Joust since I became a Visor owner. My free time has now been reduced significantly. The only downside is they are not free.
