    Time for some reminiscence...

I remember when I first saw this thing, I was all like "Holy crap, is that WebOS on a Centro?!?"

I downloaded this yesterday around 4pm, and purchased it before 5.

What a fun little launcher for a caveman like me who will probably not be getting the Pre because I am "tethered" to hotsyncing with my desktop (as I do not use any cloud apps).

Engadget Mobile had an interesting comment on this being taken down, where they claim to have seen a Palm rep. having TealOS on his non-WebOS phone. I find that to be hilarious.

I, myself, will not switch to Sprint just to get the Pre, so while I wait for it (or another WebOS Palm phone) to come to Verizon, I'll be using my Centro/TealOS. Palm is somewhat correct in saying that Teal may halt people from switching, but I think their reasoning is somewhat flawed. The majority of people in the world notice how something "looks", and don't pay any attention to the specs/how it was programmed. The Pre is so much more powerful than the Centro (web browsing alone), that I would switch in a heartbeat if it came to Verizon tomorrow.

I think Palm is more upset that they didn't come up with it before Teal. Jealousy is ugly, eh? Being a programmer myself, Teal is almost a Godsend. Who would have thought you could do it on Garnet?

I also think that TealOS could have been EXCELLENT for Palm, in the sense that people would already be familiar with the new OS, from the way Teal emulates it.

I'm done preaching, but I still can't believe it's over already... So much potential, and such excellent programming now goes to waste so Palm doesn't lose 1% market share to itself (in this respect, I've compared WebOS to Garnet running TealOS - you'd still be using Palm hardware, and WebOS comes with the new phones, so it's not like they would miss out on the cost of the App).

    Good point jj,

Perhaps if Palm would have developed it, they could have given it away to incent users to trade up to the Pre,
    or
prevent users from jumping to iPhones or BB's

They (Palm & TealPoint) still could (although I don't see that happening, due to Palm).

Could you imagine if the current TealOS had the Universal Search incorporated (or even the Find feature skinned to where it looks on WebOS) AND a phone dialpad? WOW!!! (From my understanding, that is pretty much WebOS. You just wouldn't have the power of a faster processor, maybe more RAM and a larger screen that you would from the Pre. I know I'm oversimplifying but you get the idea.)

Just download it, it doesn't bite
You can just delete it if you don't like it.
But basically, it's the card wave launcher in a circle instead of a row.

    I did, and I did.

I would love to see it "spin" in a three-dimensional aspect, where it shows depth. Kind of like the way you see a planet (3D) orbiting around the sun while shown on a piece of paper (2D).

I think this app will get a lot of coverage. When (not if) Tealpoint decides to fly with this one, I'm sure the revisions will be coming out left and right. IMO, it really doesn't need *too* many changes in order for it to be a great app.

But the "card" preview might be how TealWheel meets it's death. Wasn't that one of the issues Palm had with TealOS? While I prefer the card look, it might be smarter for them to use icons instead.

It's just a preview of the app, Palm can't on rights to that. The only reason they got upset with TOS is because of the way the previews were used.
