    Using Treo 680

---I see the voice recorder applet saves files in PDB format. Is there any known way to convert these so I can use it on something besides a PDA?

export those to your desktop using bluetooth.
they will be saved wit .AMR extension

then you can use the free Mobile Media Converter to transform in a mp3

My Desktop doesn't support bluetooth, alas.

The file I have in my backup/archive on my desktop has a ,pdb extension. I don't know how to get out of that.

    There is a workaround:

    Hi there,

I found a way to export VoiceMemo files (from my Treo 680) to MP3.

Here's what you need: (freeware; find it via Google)
    - Clie Picture Converter (yes yes)
    - Mobile Media Converter

    1) Go to following folder on your PC:
    C:\Program Files\palmOne\{name of your palm}\Backup

    You'll find files like 5-3-08-15-082_Vpad.pdb

    these are the VoicePad files;

    2) copy the files you need to a new folder which I'll call C:/Test

    3) Open Clie Picture Converter, and drag the files from C:/Test to it.
New files with .JPG extension will appear in your folder.

    4) Rename these JPG files to .AMR files.

    5) use Mobile Media Converter to convert the .AMR files to .MP3 files

    6) Lay back, smile, and enjoy the rest of your day. ;-)

Thanks--I'll give that a try. It is amazing though how many steps are necessary for something so simple. You would think the file created would simply be useable by most audio software in the first place.

P.s. There is no need to convert to MP3--software like Real Player handles amr just fine....

Does anyone know a reputable site for downloading the Clie Picture Converter?

I googled and found a bunch of sites, but they all lead to dead download links. Most of the links take me to:

    trials.palmgear.com/dl2.php/58329.exe/ClieConverter.exe

    which never opens up.

I went to the last site I listed: trials.palmgear.com/dl2.php/58329.exe/ClieConverter.exe

deleted everything after .com and the word "trials" in the address window, then did a search for Clie Converter at palmgear.com

    which took me to:

    palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&PartnerRef=&prodid=58329

    and downloaded as a guest.
