Is there a program for offline browsing on the visor that would let you, say, click a link or submit a form or type in a url on your non-connected visor and have it submit the form/fetch the site upon hotsync?

I have a webcomic. You should read it, or I may do something rash. <b><a href=http://driveby.keenspace.com/>Drive-by Loitering</a></b> is updated every monday, wednesday and friday.

really? I've got avantgo, and when I go 'open page' it tries to connect by modem or whatever. and since i dont have one it flips out and sez: this page is not available on this device.

am I using the right option?

No, AvantGo doesn't quite meet your needs. While it can queue submitted forms for later submission to the Internet, you can't enter a list of URL's or keywords you would like searched for and retrieved from the Internet. I guess we Palm people are peculiar types, because I've had the same idea. It theoretically is a simple proposition if you have any experience with scripting languages like Perl or shell scripts like in BASH.

For example, in its simplest form, you could simply have a memo named "web" in your memopad. Then you'd enter all the stuff you want retrieved from the internet in that memo. The script would then read the MemoDB and extract the "web" memo, and parse it into URL's to fetch pages for and keywords to be searched for, using your preferred search engine. After retrieving all the requested data, it would then detag the HTML documents and convert the resulting text into a doc file that's ready to be installed on your PalmOS device. This all would be a lot easier if Palm added the capability to execute your own commands during the Hotsync process instead of requiring you to create a conduit, which is something I probably would never take on.

You could try Fireviewer. It has this capability to a limited extent. You can download a demo at www.firepad.com

If at first you do succeed, try not to look astonished.

AvantGo does allow you to sync different URLs to your PDA, just not from the device. If you go to www.avantgo.com and log into your account, you can create your own channels. Just tap the create channel link at the bottom of your channel listing.
