I haven't been on the forums here in a long time, and am trying to find info on the proper process for replacing a Treo with a new one. I tried searching, but couldn't find what I was looking for. I remember, when upgrading, that you didn't want to just sync the new handset with the desktop. Instead, you had to set up a dummy name, sync that with the new handset, then change the dummy account back to the original name. Do you still have to do this when replacing handsets?

My wife's 700P broke, and we got a replacement 700P. I'm using a Mac (OS X 10.5.5) with Missing Sync (6.0). I think the only extra program we have on it is Splash Wallet (use Splash ID and Splash Shopper only).

    Thanks!

If you are sticking with the same model (best if its the same firmware version too), just pop out the sd card and restore onto the new unit. Everything will be carried over as is without any problems and the hotsync ID should be taken care of too.
