I am putting together a top 10 list of the best Freeware or Open Source applications for the Palm OS. So far I have:
    10. Plogit / Vagablog
    9. The Magic Lantern
    8. Directory Assistant
    7. PalmPDF
    6. Diddlebug
    5. MiniTones
    4. FileZ
    3. LJP
    2. TCPMP
    1. NVBackup

I added descriptions and screen shots. I am looking for other suggestions. I have already added a few "honorable mention" based on feedback. So, what AMAZING free apps am I missing?

The top 10 list is posted here:

    I like Flush-It also.
SkinUI is pretty great, although it tends to have some Centro compatibility issues (works pretty good on the 755p).

for moepaint you need to get the 1.1 version that is available at 1src.com. its in the freeware section, look there.

The issu with moepaint is that while it is freeware the developer puts an experation date on the application so that once that date hits you automaticly get booted out.

The 1.1 version does not have that expiration date.

Theres actually a new version out now that expires after March 09. I tried it but theres an issue with it when it rezizes images it distorts the image.

awesome, i'll have to go find 1.1

i dont understand the reson of having an expiration date on a freeware app but who knows!@

Can't beat Snapcalc5 - wish a similar application lived in the WM world.

It was a beta app. Putting a expiration date on it will make sure that people will have to upgrade to the later beta so you aren't chasing old bugs.

I would add to all lists METRO. Gives you metro and bus lines for almost all major and minor cities around the world; load only what you need for any trip. Figures your routes with alternatives. I cannot understand why they give it away for free.

However you set it up to launch (comand bar/long button press etc) if you launch it again while its running changes the size.

I use it alot in memos where I make lists and need to see what im adding. plus it lets you copy the total to the clipboard and saves the current calculation so if you get a call next time you open it your exactly where you left off.
