I am new here. Nice site I see so far..

I just got this phone coming from another phone.. Long story but here I am..

first time ever with the Palm software and a centro to boot..

    Now.. I am curious..

What are the top 5 apps. you guys MUST have on your palm.. Basically if you were to break your phone, get a new one, what would be the first 5 things you would install.

I'll tell you a few that you must NOT have...

    1) Opera
    2) JVM
    3) KeyCaps600 (leads to heavy battery drain on the Centro. Otherwise indispensable)
    4) Resco Locker or any other "locking" application. (NOTE: All apps from Resco (including Resco Locker) are great, I've purchased several of them)
    5) Many older apps not made for PalmOS 5.0 or greater.

What Greenhex does not tell you about Java - it is far from stable with the Palm OS devices. As far as what you are asking, do some reading - there are bunches on this all ready.

    MegaClock
    SafeGuard
    SnapperMail
    SplashID

TreoAlertMgr (not sure this is still available to buy)

    -fileZ
-mReset (so I don't have to take out the battery for most resets)
-The Core Pocket Media Player (TCPMP)
    -AttnGrabber (for led control)
-Keyshades hack (im just used to it)

Although I don't use it much MiniTones is great if you are into custom ringtones and I am addicted to AstraWare casino since OnDemand switched to Express.

My sig says it all. In order:

    Chatter
    2Day
    DateBk
    SplashID
    TryDA

This is assuming Sudoku and Google come pre-installed.
    3 Sharp Wizards (who can remember the model #'s anymore?) -> REX -> PalmPilot -> PalmPilot w/1 MB Upgrade -> Palm V -> Palm Vx -> Palm m505 -> Treo 90 -> Treo 600 (Sprint) -> Treo 650 (Sprint) -> Treo 700p (Sprint) -> Treo 755p (Sprint) -> Centro (KB & Batt too small) -> Treo 755p & Black Centro

Current "essential" programs: Chatter, 2day, TakePhone, SplashID, PalmPDF, 4Cast, DA, GoogleMaps, BackupMan, PowerHero, KeyCaps, LudusP, mSafe, TextPlus, VolumeCare, ePocrates, zLauncher.

I'll give you my 3 sets (on a 755p, assuming they all work on the Centro).

    First, 5 paid must-have's:

    PowerRUN
    TakePhone
    USBModem
    Kinoma Player 4EX
    Card Reader

    Second, 5 free must-have's:

    Tryda
    NVBackup
    UniCMD
    TCPMP
    mReset

Third, a few apps that were recommended by other members, but that I think one can manage with similar apps for free (some already mentioned):

    RescoExplorer = $$, UniCMD = Free
    Invisible = $$, ApplicationsPanl.1.3 = Free
RescoBackup (and other recommended backup programs) = $$, NVBackup = Free

Then a bonus, a few more free good ones:

    Destaller Lite
    FieldPlus
    KeyCaps
    HardReset
    Colorize
    Minutes PLUS
    OpenChess
    Converter
    MusicTones
    Attention Grabber
    Little John PalmOS

RE-READ Greenhex's post!! Greenhex DOES NOT recommend these 5 programs!! Thus, he doesn't recommend Opera (most likely due to the instability of Java) and all these other programs due to known problems.

What web applications are you guys recommending? I see Opera doesn't work, so I guess that goes for the mini as well..

    What about Skyfire??

Anything else besides the stock one?
