Yeah, that is basically the reason I did a hard reset after the rom update, just incase.

I didn't want to risk using an NVBackup from the old rom, so I just reinstalled everything manually and it has been working totally solid.

Did anyone notice that the Palm blog finally states something about the Update and it is no more helpful than the actual update page. Would it really be that hard to give a list of what was updated? Hell even the cheapest piece of software or freeware even shows what was updated with every new version. I think people would feel better about doing updates like this if they knew what was being updated.

    True Dat^^^^^^^^

Maybe even Palm isn't sure what the update does or maybe it does NOTHING and they are counting on the Placebo Effect.

I installed Reset Doctor. I set it to clean the cache at 5 meg. And to log crashes. I had tried dbscan earlier, and it didn't do much. Either that or I just didn't know what I was doing. See if the doctor can help the resets.....

Dialing keypad sounds. I did the update and everything went fine. I noticed that my keypad sounds are now gone when dialing a phone #. They work on everything else just on the dial pad. And yes I turned up the system sounds to 7!

Does anyone else have a problem with keypad sounds when dialing a phone call.

Have you tried putting the phone up to your ear while dialing? Mine are there but are very VERY low and actually have to put the phone up to my ear while I hit the numbers in order to hear them.
  8. #288
yes. I can hear them that way very very low. Before the update you could hear then loud and clear. Is it me or am i missing something?

Hearing decreases with age, I am told.

lol no I think it was their fix for the dtmf tone, they just lowered the volume on them so much that you can't hear it anymore... thats my only guess though.

Sad to report that I heard a DTMF tone yesterday when I got a SMS while on a call. So Palm didn't fully fix this bug. Can someone else confirm?

I can confirm this. I have experienced it numerous times

The frustrating part is that I had version 1.06 (beta tester) and the DTMF tone issue was gone!!!!

    Ditto.

Yeah if you actually put your phone on vibrate and then while on the phone app hit the space bar and put the phone up to your ear when you do this and you can still hear the tone.

So they just turned the volume down so it's less noticeable! Palm is starting to bug even me.

I dont know if this has been mentioned, but I use versamail to check my sprint email, and sprint is no longer listed as one of the providers to choose from. I dont know if that is a versamail issue or due to this update. It was there when I set my phone up initially. It shows version 3.5.5. I guess I can look up the server information manually.

Updated last night... went smoothly... didnt have multiple soft resets. SAG still worked. I had to adjust troubleshooting settings though to get the controls to work.

My PC crashed last night so I had to reinstall the 755/sprint cd.
So I figured I might as well do a hard reset and then do the update.
    So I did just that.
But as I was putting in all my App, phone_spec (call duration)
sent my treo in to a loop reset, so I had to do a few hard resets to make sure it was that.
I then had to uninstall and reinstall the 755/sprint cd because It was actting up on the PC.
after I did all that I ended up doing a hard rest on my phone one last time.

I assumed that the update had gone back to the orginal factory setting (because I started from stcratch)
so I tried doing the update again. I then realized that it wasn't doing anything after 10 minutes so I Unplugged my treo from the usb wire (I don't know if this was the right thing to do)
when I checked my setting... it showed that the update was in place.

So my question to you all is this:
Even though I did the update then I had to reinstall the 755 cd, was the update still there???

and when I tried doing the update the second time; and then unplugged it (because it wasn't doing anything) did that mess anything up???

As long as you didn't unplug the cord while it was actually writing to the ROM chip, then you should be fine.

If you had, your phone wouldn't even boot.
