Was wondering if there was anyway to use the email function without a data plan. If there was someway to check while sync'd up to the computer that would be great.

I really don't need the email on the fly but if I could get it when I sync up and check them and reply later that would send out when I sync up that would be fantastic.

    Any suggestions?

You have to make a connection first. Softick PPP definitely will let you make an internet connection through your PC. There is supposed to be a way to do it without any extra software, but I haven't been able to make it work.

Once you have the internet connection, you can check e-mail.

I have a Bluetooth LAN access point/router. I can connect my treo to my LAN and then access what ever I want, at much higher speed.

So if I got a bluetooth router to come out of my regular router I connect to that and it works same-same?

Just so I am not noobing out could you post a link to the type of equipment you are referring to?

    Thanks so much.

What you showed at New Egg would give your PC bluetooth capability. Add the Softtick PPP and you can connect your Treo 680 through your computer.

What I have is a Bluetooth Access Point/Router. Basically, it's like a Wifi router, except it's bluetooth. You would plug it into an open port on your router and then you connect your treo directly to your LAN. The speed is very very fast, compared with GPRS/EDGE. I think I paid about $60 for mine.
