    I've been playing around with TakePhone for a few days and really starting to like it. Especially the iBar at the bottom. I've found that I like using it as a launcher as much as a Photo Dialer. So I created an icon set for the iBar from the zPhone Zlauncher theme.

    I'm sure there is no way that ShSh can distribute this icon set since it has some icons that bear too much resemblance to a certain phone from a certain company which will not be named here.

    100 total icons for TP iBar.

    If anyone has other icon sets to share please post them.

    thanks!! that's great, nice icon set!

    what was your approach for creating the new set (not the icons themselves)?

    I would probably want to edit down the set, since Ive got such limited memory on my 650

    (and then maybe ill generate another set!)

    cheers

    For this I used PFCD to build the Icon Sets.

    1. Start with a Default.RCP that looks like this:

    // ==== This File Created by PFCD ====

    //Database Name = TP_tPhoneIcons
    //Palm Type = TpIc
    //Palm Creator = TkPh
    //Version Num = 0
    //Resource Type = 68K
    //Attributes = 1
    //Windows file Name = C:\tp_people_001_hicol_icons.pdb

    // Resource type Tbmp

    BITMAPFAMILYEX ID 1000
    BEGIN
    BITMAP "Tbmp1000-16-144.bmp" BPP 16
    DENSITY 2 COMPRESS
    TRANSPARENT 255 0 255
    END
    2. The BMP is a 48x48 72dpi bitmap icon file. For each Icon just repeat the BITMAPFAMILYEX -> END loop in the Default.RCP file.

    3. Once you have the RCP file referencing all the BMP's you want to bundle, create a new PRC using the PFCD's Compiler to point to your Default.RCP file.

    If you wanted to trim this one down, you could use PFCD to extract the resources and remove the references to the Icons you want to remove and then recreate the .prc using PFCD.

    Is there any way you could post the icon set as a zip file of the bmp or gif files themselves? Or is there a way to extract the individual files from the prc? You have some great icons in that set, and they would work well with TreoLauncher.

    Could you post a view pics of the icons as used with TakePhone?

    All, to extract resources (like BMPs) from a Palm program or database you can use PFCD - http://festus440.happypalm.com/pfcd.php

    It's sort of like playing with ResEdit back on the old MacOS8 days.

    Can these icons be used in 2day? If so any special steps to get them accessible from 2day?

    Im almost there! Ive created a set of 36 icons, and they work, but I cant attach the file here. The Attachment process starts, and the progress bar gets about a 3rd of the way across, but then I get this "vBulletin" msg:
    Invalid Post specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator
    Ive always found attaching files hit and miss at TC! Firefox, IE still the same problem.

    Ive sent a msg to admin.

    Set of 36 now attached and also gif of all these (except one). Hotsync the prc file to your RAM (not the gif).

    Note these arent as cool as the ones in Bsquares' set- I just grabbed a whole lot of mostly people-related images (hence the P at end of filename) out of a very generic clipart folder from the main app of the Company That Cannot be Named. I was just learning the ropes on this run. One thing I forgot to set was the image resolution, but its obviously not way too high, given the size of the set overall.

    Bsquarewi: Have you found any nice way to batch rename a folder of images to get them all in the right name format (and sequence) as required for the RPC file? I was using ACDSee, which can do batch renaming, but I couldnt see any way to get the 1000, 1001, 1002 etc sequencing to happen. I guess its difficult, with those numbers stuck in the middle of the file names.

    cheers

    I dont use 2Day, and I dont know what icons they use, but my guess is that none of the sets provided in this thread will work straight off in 2Day.

    In addition to the images themselves, the other component of each file set is a list of "instructions", as it were, (the RPC file) which you can only see (and edit, using eg Notepad) after you have "extracted" the file set (as they are being provided in this thread) using the free software PFCD.

    One important aspect of those instructions is that some are application-specific:

    e.g. this is what you see at the top of a Takephone RPC file opened in Notepad:

    "// ==== This File Created by PFCD ====

    //Database Name = TP_tPhoneIcons
    //Palm Type = TpIc
    //Palm Creator = TkPh "

    So I think an icon set for 2Day would have different entries under Palm Type and Palm Creator. If you knew what those were (eg by taking apart an existing 2Day set with PFCD and looking at its RPC file with Notepad) you could then "simply" take apart any of the sets supplied here, and edit the Takephone-specific entries in the RPC files to match up with 2Day. Then you would just recompile the images with the edited RPC file to make a 2Day-useable prc file, again using PFCD (it swings both ways).

    The other info you need is the size and resolution of icons used in 2day (TakePhone i-bar images are 48x48 and 72dpi)

    ...but Im only guessing!

    If you mean can they be used in the iBar plugin in 2Day? Yes. If you have TPhone and 2Day installed with the iBar plugin, then the iBar will be the same between the 2 with the same icons.

    I ended up writing a Unix script to build the RCP file off the bmp's in the directory. Created a dummy rcp.tmp file with "BMPFILENAME" in as the dummy filename in the rcp.tmp and then looped through the directory on all bmp's.

    rcp.tmp:
    BITMAPFAMILYEX ID NUMBER
    BEGIN
    BITMAP "BMPFILENAME" BPP 16
    DENSITY 2 COMPRESS
    TRANSPARENT 255 0 255
    END

    and the .sh:

    ls *bmp |while
    read FILE
    do
    sed s/BMPFILENAME/$FILE/g rcp.tmp >>Default.RCP
    done

    Actually, I want to be able to assign the icons to my Tasks and Meetings in 2day. (my current selection of icons for these are limited.)

    So I was hoping someone would know if this can be done before I start loading all this stuff up on my Treo.

    I had a look at the 2Day resources, after extracting them with PFCD, and
    its a much more complex situation than we are dealing with for these
    iBar icons. There are different categories of bitmaps, for different
    purposes within the program, ranging in size from 1kb to 58kb. The RCP
    file is more complex too, and I cant see the logic of it from a casual
    exam. Maybe someone else may be able to. I tried to attach the RCP file
    but still not having much luck with that from my home comp (and no word
    back from TC support).

    So Ive pasted in a bit of it below

    Anyway, its certain that you cant use the icon sets we are working with
    here, and you will need guidance either from Shimon, or so other
    clued-in person as to how to proceed. I dont think there will be any
    "package deal" -- it will involve you getting on top of the PFCD
    program, or someone doing that grunt work for you.

    Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

    easier for me to stick with the manual renaming at this point.

    Over 100 icons, courtesy of Axialis Team.

    Hotsync to internal memory to use. To save space, after you're done selecting which icons you want on your ibar, you can use filez or a similar file manager to move it to the memory card.

    Screenshot is of TAKEphONE 7.6 beta version 11, which includes a full screen of ibar shortcuts.

    I'm afraid one color is all I have time for at the present, so I just picked blue since it goes with the default theme.

    Enjoy!
