Is there a stylus-free way to check the remaining battery life, or do you have to use the stylus to touch the battery icon?

I meant: Can you check remaining battery life without touching the screen?

I use TreoLauncher--which can show the battery as a % near the icon.

There is also KeyguardExt, a Keyguard replacement that shows batt in % as well when the device is turned on.

In other words, you'll probably need a 3rd party solution to make it easy.

There's free app called ClockPop that I use on my Treo 700. You just assigned the function to a key and battery life pops up when you hold that key along with whatever other system information you decide you want to pop up. Search for ClockPop PRC on google.

I use Treoinfo. It shows the battery level in % on the Home screen. It is free.

Zlauncher can also show the voltage or % remaining.
