With my cracked screen and all, I just got my new Centro replacement today. Good, right? Wrong. When I called to provision the new phone, Sprint says they are working on a batch of 1 million phones along with Nextel and that they cannot provision or activate my new phone until Dec. 7th or 72 hours, depending on where my phone is in the batch. (They are carrying their billing system over to a new system or something like that.)

The Sprint store isn't an option either since they will need to access my account just like the CS reps from Sprint.

Why would they do something like this during the holiday season. And why does it take so long, but I guess no time is a good time.

But with Sprint, being Sprint I called back and got another CS rep who told me the same thing that my telephone number was not accessable right now and to check back tomorrow. (Yes, I want to talk to Claire, wait in cue and repeat myself).

Fortunately, my cracked Centro still works!

That stinks, I'd keep checking, I don't think they can put you further down the cue for calling too many times. The company that does the self serve activation or whatever that most all the carriers use got a buy, buy, buy, I think on Mad Money. I don't recall the name, I wasn't paying attention at the time since I watch Mad Money while I'm on here!

Tis true. Sprint is migrating to a new system. I was told that they would not be able to access my account from Dec 3-6. From what I hear, though, the new system will allow us to switch phones by ourselves, without talking to Claire. It's not quite as simple as GSM folks with their Sim cards, but still a move in the right direction.

But you're right, there's never really a good time for this. Good thing your old phone still works...

Thank goodness for your phone. Just kidding, partially, because of my problem. I activated mine last night and the vision is not working. I've been to two stores today, one being a company store with the greatest guy who helped me (Greg at the Jefferson City, MO, Truman Ave. store). He must not have known about this and he manually put in everything and made sure that everything is correct. He said, like the activation said when I activated the phone (radio) last night, that it could take up to four hours. I always get that it's trying to connect to provision to set up the data, but it's not connecting. Sorry, but I've been thinking it's the phone. I guess, like my mother used to say, "I'm one in a million".

At least the phone works and we can text, so it's not as bad, but I guess I can wait a few more days. Good luck on yours.

    Kyocera 6035 > Kyocera 7135 > Treo 600 > Treo 650. All Verizon. Sprint Treo 755p, HTC Mogul & Centro
Unlocked Treo 680 for trips outside Sprint's areas

That happened to me three weeks ago when I ordred the Centro. My account was moving to the new system (it took all week). Then, of course, in the migration they LOST my order for the Centro. So the "overnight" delivery really took almost two weeks!!

Just to update. I called tech support today and after an hour on the phone with a great guy who seemed to know what he was doing, fixed the problem so now I have a totally working Centro.

That's great, welcome to the Centro Club!

LOL, I have to admit having a broken screen forced me to learn the benefits of the navagational buttons and the control buttons.

I was finally able to provision my new replacement Centro tonight. I was on the phone with TS and it did not go through the several times we tried to activate initially by plugging in ## etc, but after being totally frustrated and hanging up while on hold, I was finally able to get it set up from the phone itself with no help from TS.

In all the years of having a Sprint phone, this provisioning was the most frustrating. Even after it provisioned, it kept asking me a few times to provision still.

I did a soft reset and it hasn't asked since.

Off hand, does anyone know how long you have to return a damaged phone to insurance? I think someone mentioned 30 days, but that seems too generous. -LOL
