Should have done this a long time ago!! I'm not willing to go the Vista route yet so I'm still on XP. I've been using Palm Desktop for years and was nervous about moving to Outlook with all the issues I see. Have a Sprint Treo 700P. Here's what I did.

    1. Backed up the Palm with NVBackup (just in case)
    2. Created a restore point on WinXP
    3. Uninstalled Palm Desktop (Add Remove in Control Panel)
    4. Renamed the Palm Directory to "PalmOld"
    5. Downloaded and installed Palm Desktop
    6. WHEN IT ASKED ME TO ACTUALLY PUSH THE BUTTON TO SYNC I STOPPED

    ************************
If you dont get this message, run it manually by
    Start
    Programs
    Palm
    PIM Conduit Sync
    Sync with Outlook
    ************************

    7. Downloaded and installed the Outlook 2007 Conduit
    8. When the conduit was installed I right clicked on the hotsync icon in the system tray (bottom right by the clock) and clicked on "Custom"
    9. I configured VersaMail to Do Nothing and set it as default
    10. Changed all "Synchronize the files" to "Handheld overwrites"
    11. Click done
    12. Go back to Palm Desktop install and hotsynced.

At the first hotsync did everything but the contacts. When I opened Outlook I had a million beeps due to alerts over the past 4 years. Just select the all and hit the delete key.

    All calendar events imported perfectly.

I synced again and this time all the contact imported and into the proper category.

    I'm a happy camper...

IF you use alerts on tasks and you are syncing tasks (not just going one way with it), go into the Custom settings for tasks, hit select, conflict: set to handheld wins (or desktop). I don't use alerts at all in Outlook (since I always have my treo on me) and the alerst get automatically clears on Outlook. The treo record will be slightly different so it usually likes to duplicate it. This eliminated that problem.

Hmmm, trying the steps listed above, but it's not working.

New Dell with Vista Business, so uninstall was unnecessary.

I installed the Palm desktop (#5). All good so far.
Downloaded 2007 Outlook Conduit, but unable to install.

I run setup.exe and then it seems to skip a section and says "you have chosen to remove the program" What? I didn't choose that?

That's it, it doesn't let me finish the install. Suggestions?

Glad you wrote. We're in the process of setting up our church and for some reason I did the same thing with our pastor's account only. After tons of installs and uninstalls we discovered the problem.

Once you install the PalmDesktop and it appears to just stop, go to
    Start
    Programs
    Palm
    PIM Conduit Sync
    Sync with Outlook

I'll modify the post above to save future viewers the trouble.

    Cya.

    You Rock! That worked perfectly.

And interesting that you're a Realtor too. I'm new to the field so I'll have to remember that. Any other great advice on useful apps or tips for real estate stuff?

    Thanks again.
