I did some research on addit/additsync, and also came across the various fee-based On-Demand items. In the end, I removed the addit apps and databases, some of the OD pieces (directory, maps/directions, dictionary), and VoiceCommand ($7/per month, as I read). I got a few megs back as a result. YMMV.

PS: It would be nice if we can compile a list of these non-essential apps (and a list of associated apps/files).

Did you use any special software to delete these built-in apps?

I'm not seeeing Get Nuance VoiceCommand, for example, listed in the delete menu.

I assumed the OnDemand services on the Centro are included with the PowerVision Ultimate Pack? I'm going to read the PowerVision brochure again; I thought I read on various reviews that OnDemand was one of the Centro exclusives, akin to having pTunes deluxe for Centros

on demand is on all power vision phones. If you have any sort of PV plan then you have on demand.

Coming from a Treo 650 with a stripped-down custom ROM, I was sad to have shovelware and adverticons back in my face when I got my Centro. Unfortunately, there's no way to make a custom ROM for the Centro (yet?) - so I ended up trying - then buying - Invisible.

$5.95 was well worth it to get that garbage out of my face for good.

application panel is free, it hides any app from the built-in Launcher. You can google it or find in on my essential Centro Freeware list at http://www.palmloyal.com

Or, instead of spamming your site, you could actually link to the file:

I downloaded the program but then it became invisible, I did not see it in my menu. Should I be able to see it there?

    Thanks

You will not see Application Panel in the menu. It was added to Preferences (Prefs).

I use Zlauncher and hide the icons that I do not need. You can do this by going to the information menu while highlighting the icon you want to hide. It does the same thing as the Application panel.

    FYI

You can use Initiate 3.28 on the Centro and use it to hide any icons you don't want to see.

I wouldn't mind a tool like i had on the 650 that can download the system partition, let me delete/add stuff and then upload my own system back.

I'd like to get rid of some of the crap, like i don't need the built in organizer applets since i use Agendus, don't need the IM thing and a bunch of other stuff on there. But itunes now is updated, Kinoma is updated, Opera is out. I'd like to replace the software it came with, with the new updated versions so they're not taking up RAM.

    I was going to say...

When you run a Palm OS help site for 8 years or at least get another 500 posts under your belt, then you can start telling me something I don't know.

If I was on a desktop and not my treo, I COULD have done a whole lot of things differently. I pointed them to a place that had the infomation (because I have the Centro links at the top) that I know. If I was on the desktop, I would have pointed to the exact story url at least. The info is in my signature, but the signature is not seen from the mobile version of this site; which I use more. We can only wonder what you would be doing if WE didn't create these sites to share what we know. The developer doesn't have a site to point to.

    But instead, I'll say...

Thanks for not just talking junk, but adding something valuable as well, i.e. the "link".

    Thanks!

BTW, I appreciate sites like Palmloyal that outlines programs and information that saves me time and helps me better use my Treo. I found a couple of free programs there I had not tried, and that's pretty cool.
