I transfered everything including contacts from my Treo 650 to my new Centro. Now, when someone calls, it says "Unknown Caller" even though the Contacts have the number listed and a person assigned to it.

When i go to the log and go to the "Unknown Caller" and hit Dial, it dials the number but still says UNKNWON. If I COPY the number instead of dialing, and then paste it to dial it manually, the person's name finally comes up.

This is getting annoying. Anyone else having the same issue? What can I do to fix it?

If you copied all of your 650 files to the Centro, you probably have caused a great deal of confusion on your device!

I suggest doing a hard reset and carefully putting things on your Centro. Your contacts, calendar, memos and tasks are kept in the following files:

    CalendarDB-PDat
    ContactsDB-PAdd
    MemosDB-PMem
    TasksDB-PTod

It is NOT a good idea to just start copying everything from an older Treo to a newer Treo/Centro. Many applications need to be updated for the newer devices. You also do not want to copy older configuration files for things like networking, etc.... from the old device to the new. This has the potential to just cause many problems.

    Hope this helps......

I didn't copy the files, but instead I beamed all of them category by category. Same goes for my Calendar and Memos. I have no To Do list.

Beaming and copying are the same thing. I again think you need to start from a hard reset and see if the problem still happens on your device. If the problem goes away after the hard reset and BEFORE installing anything on your device, the problem is in the extra things you added to the device.

So I have to enter those contacts by hand?

There are no extra software on my Centro.

It is "relatively" safe to copy the PDB files from one Palm to another. But one differnece that I know between the 2 devices is that the majority of the built in ringtones are different between the Treo and the Centro. So if you have assigned any ringtones to specific contacts, these are not going to work properly. The best method for transfering contacts, calendar, tasks, etc... is to use the integration with Outlook or the Palm Desktop. You can cause some pretty significant instability problems by simply copying system files from the Treo to the Centro.

I would be happy to help you if you send me your phone number to support @ GoTreoSoftware.com. I can spend a few minutes on the phone with you to get you pointed in the right direction if what I said here is not enough to get you going.

I also went from a 650 to Centro but my contacts were uploaded via active sync. All my calls show unknown caller even thought they are in my contacts.

Did you check if you have a double entry for the same number, one as unknown and one as the name? I've had that happen, with the incoming call the "Unknown" record comes in first

Turned out to be Ringo. If I disable it it works just fine. Re-enable it and back to unknown caller status.

    I am having a similar problem...and I don't have Ringo.

I friend just got a Centro. He was already in my address book with a different mobile phone number from a different carrier (and a home/office number too).

When ever he calls now from his new mobile, I get a '-Unnamed-(M)' on the screen and log. But if he calls from his home or work, I get his name...

I have tried a soft reset. Looking through my log, he new cell is the only one.

    Any ideas?

Transfer by hand? No way, that's nuts... Go oldsk00l, beam them by category to the new device. That's how I handle contacts, memos, appts, etc when I get a new palm.

The best way is to use a conduit like Outlook to act as a translator between the old and new device if they are dramatically different devices. This way the new file layout is maintain on the new device.

No...I am going to try some other stuff over the weekend...like deleting his entry all together, than re-adding it.

That what i had to do. Transferred from my RAZR to my Centro. Had to edit the CST file so outlook could read properly, but after that, everything went smoothly.

I upgraded from a 650 to my Centro. I had them transfer over my contacts right there in the store. They had a device they hooked both phones to, installed a small program, synced my contacts across, done. Took like 10 seconds. As for apps, I had no issues beaming the important ones I wanted over. I used Filez to port bookmarks and settings for ptunes and blazer, game scores, etc.
