I'm looking for a recommendation for a good free podcast player.

Controlling the volume from the buttons on the side would be good.

I would like to be able to pause in the middle and resume at a later time from the point where I left off even if I quit the app and return much later. Do any of them work like this after the device has gone through a reset?

    TIA

Let me clarify a bit. I'd like to be able to download (store on SD card) mp3 files from http://www.twit.tv/ and be able to play them on my 700p.

Is there a free / easy way to do that on the 700p?

I think quicknews may do what you want but I'm not sure.

I believe he was looking for free. QuickNews isn't free. Resco News is another nice RSS reader/podcatcher.

Do a search (google or on here) for TCPMP

While not free, Kinoma player will stream/download podcasts. Might be worth checking into.

TCPMP seems to work OK. The screen doesn't blank out when playing MP3's though so it may unnecessarily drain the battery.

If you want to be able to play mp3s in the background and/or with the screen off, look at PocketTunes (not free)

    http://www.pockettunes.com/

You can even use windows media player to sync mp3s to your device easily.

I just download them on my pc with yeahreader or whatever you like, copy them to my card and use pocket-tunes (free and already installed on you treo). I changed the skin to:

    http://www.pocket-tunes.com/skins/index.php?id=65

    which is great for podcasts.

There really isn't a good free solution for podcasts. I think Resco Neews works the very best. You can schedule RSS feeds and podcasts (Audio & Video) to download. I have a 700p so the 3G helps. I download everything at night so by morning I have plenty to read/watch/listen. Hope this helps.
