    Has anyone else experienced this?

Now that mobetube.com is kaput, m.youtube.com has become a bit more important, to me as a Treo-user who likes to watch YouTube videos. I've noticed, though, that search results from m.youtube.com are very narrow and limited when I use my Treo, while the very same keywords produce many different results using an iPhone (I tried this in an AT&T store).

If anyone's curious, I tried searching for "Family Guy."

Is there a "fix" for this? Thanks, in advance.

I miss being able to watch YouTube videos without the labor-intensive searches of the full YouTube site or just using existing (but often broken) bookmarks I've saved in the past.

    * Stuck virtual keyboard? Partial erase AND folder deletion worked for me.

Can you tell me more about how you're searching?

Kinoma Player lets you play any YouTube video, while the iPhone can only play a tiny little fraction of everything that's on YouTube.

It's not about what's playable out of the search results, but the search results themselves.

I don't know how to describe the search process other than to say that I typed the keywords in the search fields and pressed search/enter.

Searching for "Family Guy" using a Treo produced one result but using an iPhone produced several-plus.

I assume it's a different search engine for iPhone or a larger set of mobile-Youtube videos available just for the iPhone.

Try mobytube.net. It will get the you the selection that mobetube used to get--I just can't get it work with kinoma. Let me know if you figure it out.

I tried moby, saw they had a new beta, but still no luck with kinoma.

This worked for me for a few days, but no longer works. I hit download, then changed the file extension to .flv and it played fine, but no more.

    I use tinytube.net now.

Forget it. I just tried it again tonight & it wouldn't work. Said queue (or something) was extra long because of adding porno vids. Not my style to wait because others are watching smut.

Sad, but sometimes it seems there's truth to, "If all the porn were removed from the internet, there'd only be one site left & it would say, ' Bring back the porn! ' ".

Yep, that's because you're searching m.youtube.com, which only gives you videos encoded for 3GPP phones.

If you search the "real" web site, you'll get hundreds of videos that you can't watch with the iPhone, but that you can play just fine with Kinoma Player.

Here are a couple ways to made feeds to your favorite YouTube videos:

That doesn't explain why a search of the same website, from two different phones (Treo & iPhone) produces different results.

That's my question - why are the results I get from a Treo are different than the results I get from an iPhone (not why the results from m.youtube.com are different from the results from youtube.com).

My guess would be the search engine is "tailoring" the results based on the browser type.

    NOW HEAR THIS:

Kinoma 4EX has been updated and now includes a search feature - the even includes YouTube videos!!!

I cannot express how cool this is. Besides how seamlessly this feature enables YouTube video playback on my Treo, I REALLY dig the fact that these are full YouTube videos, as opposed to lower-resolution versions that are either tiny or too pixelized to fully enjoy!

There are other cool features, but this particular one has me doing (mental) backflips! You can read about the rest here.

When you search from your Treo using Web (Browser), you can only search YouTube's 3GPP (a flavor of MPEG-4) subset of videos.

When you search from your iPhone, you can only search YouTube's iPhone-optimized subset of videos.

You get different results because those are different sets of videos.

In contrast, with Kinoma Player you can play all YouTube videos. And as of yesterday (thanks, west3man!) you can now search YouTube directly from Kinoma Player as well as use the YouTube feeds in Kinoma Media Guide.

Ahhh nuts! I've resisted upgrading and lived with the free version in Blazer. But I'm almost certain if I check this out, it's going to cost me some money. Thanks (grumble, grumble) for the info.
