Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm perplexed.

The USB cable that the Centro comes with is just called a sync cable, not a charging sync cable or anything.

But when I plug it in, the battery icon gets the little red lightning bolt as if it's being charged.

But then after leaving it plugged in for a while, the battery doesn't seem to have gotten any juice.

So is it supposed to charge through that cable or not? Did they just screw up by making it trigger the charging icon?

Not sure how the Treos have handles this, but the later Palm PDAs supposedly would "trickle charge from the sync cable...but, yeah.

A lot of the 3rd party sync cables combine the power and sync cables into one, allowing you to charge via the USB - they then have wallplug and carplug adapters to go on the USB end to allow you to charge with that as well.

That's the case with the Treo 700p.

It does charge (as indicated by the red charging light coming on and the lightning bolt on the battery icon) but it's a slower charge than when using the AC adapter. The same thing is true for most phones. The Mogul is the same way.
