Does anyone know of away to add more categories to the task list. I don't want to use KeySuite because it changes other parts of home Treo applications I want to give up. ie, the way it works with Handmark Express, etc.

The max category number is built in to the Palm OS. The only way to get more categories is to use a 3rd party application...like the one you don't want to use.

There are work arounds - sort of. You can start each task with a unique word or symbol such as WF for the Getting Things Done (GTD) category of "Waiting For". Some recommend using ones like @Agenda or @ Phone. You can use anything you like and as many different ones as you like.

The official site for GTD has a free paper on David Allen's use of a Palm for his GTD system. The site is davidco.com. That paper has some good techniques for using the Palm plain vanilla yet very effectively.

I also recommend the Yahoo users group for GTD on your Palm. People on there have some excellent descriptions of how they work around the category limitations. One I like to use is start each task with the project name. Then I can sort by that. I'm amazed at the creative work arounds from that group. Many of them are more elaborate than I need, but it's a good resource.

Hope this may lead you in a useful direction.
