I really like my Treo 755P. I am a long time Treo owner (since the Visor Phone, the real first inception of the Treo). Back in the day I had much more time to research this stuff, and have done searches and read many threads but I still have these questions, and I know the answers are subjective:

BTW, I bought 4- 755P's and none of them are resetting. Very stable. Two of them currently have 4GB Kingston HC cards in them (without issue)

    1. I am big AIM user (Verichat has been wonderful) I hate Sprints IM Application. My lifetime subscription to verichat, that I got 5 years ago for $50 they tell me runs out in December (Hopefully I don't die). I need something that will be compatible with Chatter IMAP running in the background. I have been told Mundo (which I did like the trial I had on my 650) but I have been unable to find the 755P version and will it run in the background with chatter without problems?

    2. Has anyone developed any rom to removed Versamail, Downloads, Get Nuance, Get Good, On Demand, and Sprint Store.

    3. Back up - I want something to back up everything, and on a SD card. What is the best back up system.

    4. File manager - where i can easily get and move my files

The only things I have installed so far are a few games and:
Chatter (love), Tom Tom(love), GOO Sync(love), ptunes delux(like).

    5. I like Ptunes deluxe for my music, streaming and Yahoo to go. I want video on the phone with Youtube, google videos, wouldn't mind putting a few movies. DO I need both Core Media and Kinmona upgrade as well, Paying for three players? Can I move ORB movies?

    6. When I had a 650, we had lists of programs that we successfully run from SD card. Other than Chatter and Tom Tom, what other applications can I put on the SD card?

    7. Why can't Chatter receive files from the voice memo?

    Thanks in advance.

my subscription to veri-chat runs out in Dec also, and nothing else out there comes close... I'm not even gonna bother looking until they shut the servers down

file manager I use file z (free) http://mytreo.net/downloads/details-3.html and resco explorer http://mytreo.net/downloads/details-505.html

(media players) the core player really doesn't add much over their free player tcpmp http://mytreo.net/downloads/details-651.html I would try that version first to see if it meets your needs... You will need the upgraded version of kinoma to watch youtube, & google vids, well scratch that you can use http://m.youtube.com with the free player, but the content is limited...

I'm confused, when you say "can you move orb movies?" what exactly do you mean? you can upload & download from your orb pc (no uploads from the treo)

the running apps from the card isn't as big a issue as it was on the 650, the 755 has more ram than the 650 had... but either way not much has changed as far as what can & can't be run from the sd card... whatever you were able to run from the 650's card can be run from tha755's card

    NVBackup.

There are bunches of backup applications. The freeone listed above, NVBackup works well. I use Resco Backup - more options. The link is http://www.resco.net/palm/backup/default.asp. Also, not all backup applications back up and properly restore Java environment files. NVBackup and Resco Backup do.

File manager - FileZ for the freeware world. There are others. Resco Explorer - http://www.resco.net/palm/explorer/default.asp. Some 3rd party launchers incorporate them into their functionality (ZLauncher is an example) - http://zztechs.com/product.php?prod=ZLauncher.

    6. What goes on the card: any application that does not have to operate at a specific time and/or situation and/or respond to alarms and/or interact with another application and/or open a file automagically / and/or get mail at a specific time or poll for it and/or is just too dang large to launch in a timely manner.

An alarm clock needs to be in main memory. A mail program needs to be in main memory if you wanna have it get mail automagically.

Why Chatter cannot receive files from the voice memo? I am confused on this question. You can send a voice memo as a file attachment and when it is received, ChatterEmail may prompt you to save it to the card or the device. If to the card, it is automagically saved to /Palm/Blazer/Download.

Re: Chatter / Voice Memo Chatter will not load a voice memo. I can send/recieve pictures/videos and I can send voice memos but Chatter will not load voice memos.

There's a quality difference, too. Kinoma Player plays the same FLVs used on the real YouTube site, while the m.youtube.com are smaller, 3GPP versions of a small fraction of those FLVs.

I just bought 4 Treo 755p for my co-managers (I've had mine since May 2007). They have not had any reset either.

    1. Mundu IM works fine on 755p. It works with Chatter and all the other apps running in background. For $11, there is no better deal.

    2. A custom ROM is not avaiable until Palm releases the 1st official ROM update (which they haven't). This is probably a year or more away. Even with the additional RAM, I can still use whatever space is avaiable..

    3. Resco Backup is by far the best Backup program for Palm OS. Sure there is the free NVBackup, but it does not havethe great GUI or ease of use.

    4. Resco explorer is by far the best tool for managing files on the Palm OS platform. Free apps like Filez and fileProg will get the tasks done. Resco Explorer even includes a backup sub-app to allow manaul backups to occurr.

    5. Sounds like you need both. Kinoma for the Youtube.com stuff and TCPMP for converted movies.

    6. If the apps from the 650 are compataible with the 755p, then you put the same info on the 755's mini-SD.

I'm completely biased, of course, but movies converted to MPEG-4 or Windows Media work and look great in Kinoma Player.

Is there a way to get my Media Center movies/TV shows into Kimona without a hassle?

I have a Media Center too, and a blog post that describes how to use Kinoma Player with WebGuide4 in on my To Do list.

I haven't tried this yet, but you should also be able to make DVRMSToolbox automatically create Kinoma-compatible versions of everything you record.
