In Treo's native calendar function, I'd like to somehow eliminate the "unfiled" category, at least as the default category, if not altogether. (Instead, the calendar under my name -- call it John Smith -- can just be the default.) Does anybody know how to do this?

I don't think you can do this. I have tried to no avail. I wanted everything to default to important if I didn't specify a category, but couldn't figure it out.

I think I remember seeing that feature in Datebook but its been a while since I've used that program.

Not true. The categories are kept at the OS level; "Unfiled" is a reserved slot maintained by the OS.

I know that in Agendus, you can select a default category for contacts, calendar, memos, and tasks. So in theory if you only use agendus and then switch back to native PIM apps, your stuff will be correct...

If that is, in fact, true, I doubt that it involves changing the name of the Unfiled category; and any arrangement made along those lines would only apply as long as you kept using Agendus.

I should clarify. You can only set the default category for a new entry via Agendus. However, if you stop using Agendus the category you originally assigned will still be recorded to the various Palm DBs... Outside of Agendus, you can't change the default.

Of course any category to which you assigned to an appointment would be the same with or without Agendus (or DateBk, for that matter). The mechanism of defaulting a new appointment to a category other than Unfiled, however, is something that can only be done within that app (Agendus or DateBk). And again, that mechanism does not do what the OP was asking for, IOW, renaming the Unfiled category.
