Whenever I exit my Calendar app and go to any other application, I'm experiencing a delay of about 20 seconds. I get a white screen with a little "Please wait..." box for the first five seconds then a blank white screen for the next 15 or so.

I have several years of calendar appointments in my database, but my number of records is only 2,760. (I like having my old appointments on the device for reference.)

I've checked the database with dbScan and found no problems. Any thoughts on what might be causing this?

    Thanks.

Have you tried DBFixit? It does a better job than DBScan. Also, the Datebook developer, CESD, did a post once on his forum that talked about the length of time the Palm device required to load/unload a given number of entries and there is a good chance that you are a likely candidate to do some house cleaning.

limoman you can purge those appointments from your device and keep an archived copy on your computer. See what I wrote in this thread:http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...d.php?t=152117

This is a widely reported behavior of the 700P/755P. It is much worse in the 700P, but it is there. This is the "LAG" issue everyone was talking about.

The only problem with this choice is that I need to review previous appointments from my Treo (not my pc). I wish there was a way to archive anything older than 1 year instead of 1 month.

Also, do you think the number of records is what is causing this problem?

My Db6 opens and closes fine with 5400 records. I don't think the # of records is your issue.

honestly limo I am not sure, but there is likely a corrupt file that is the culprit. DBFixit may help as bclinger suggested. Here is some info on it: http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...d.php?t=147809

Thanks for the info. I was excited about DBFixIt as a potential solution to my problem - however DBFixIt found no errors in any of my databases. Does anyone have any other thoughts as to way I'm experiencing such a long lag exiting my calendar app? I'm not experiencing this lag with any other apps.

Has it always been this way? Too bad that DBFixit did not solve the problem.

This may be a stupid thing to try but you could change the date in preferences and then purge a month, change the date forward a month, purge a month etc, till you have deleted and archived what you need. Then change it back to today's date. Kind of a pita but easier than some of the other solutions.
