My dad lost his SD card and bought a new one. He had thousands of contacts, events and emails.

Now, everytime he tries to sync it says, "memory low, please delete some files." How do I get the hot sync manager to use the new card as a replacement for the one he lost?

    Thanks gang!

Not sure I follow what you need.

PIM data is traditionally kept on the handheld, and if it was just the SD card lost why would it need to be re-sync'd back to the device?

Can you give abit more detail about the device in question and what is failing on the sync. What type of sync are you doing? etc

He has a Treo 650 on Cingular/AT&T. For our calendar/phone contacts, we use a program called Abacus which is a specialized program for law firms that runs on the Window's platform.

His Palm Desktop calendar still reflects hundereds of events but they don't show up on his phone. I assume they were stored on the SD card.

When you hit the button on the hot sync cable now, it starts to sync then within seconds it stops syncing and the phone displays a low memory warning and requests you delete some files. I thought it would just treat the new SD card as it did the old one, but I don't know how to achieve that.

In Palm Quick Install, under his profile it says "No card" under a profile named "Abacus" it sees a card. The card itself, according to the Card Info app. is empty.

    Thanks gang!

His PIM data is not kept on the card; it can only be hotsynced to the dbs in RAM. Your Hotsync problem isn't related to the card.

You should name the card via the Card app on the Treo (menu>Card/Rename_Card).

Quick Install says "No Card" because you haven't finished a Hotsync since getting the card; it doesn't know that it exists.

Exactly, what is the error message displayed?

From the application launcher, choose App/Info from the menu: how much free space is shown on the phone?
    V > Vx > m505 > m515 > T/T > T3 > TC > 650 > 680

It says, "Low Memory Error" "Please delete some data and try Hotsync again"

    App/Info says "Free Space: 554K of 23.7M"

I named the card "new card". Aren't I original?

Thanks for all of your time and attention!

Then, I think you should do as the error message says and delete some files (or move them to the card); that's not much available RAM at all.

I did as you suggested. It's syncing now. You all ROCK!!!

It's not a good idea to let the 650 get too low on memory. Mine always acted funky if I fell below 3MB.
