Out of nowhere this morning I was sending a text message and it was fine than after that it froze up. I removed the battery door and pulled out the battery for 10 seconds and put the battery back in. It hangs up on the Access Powered screen and doesn't move. I pulled out the battery and tried plugging in the power plug by itself and same thing. Even as I write this I just unplugged the battery and just plugged it back in and it will not move past the Access Powered screen.

Help! I am not to sure how I can get it to boot past this, is my phone bricked?

    Thanks for any help offered!

    UPDATE

So I called sprint and they informed me even though I bought the phone on 5/19/07 that I would have to go through insurance and be charged $50. I am out of work and currently looking for a job and I can't afford that at all right now and they told me basically they can't do **** for me. Ugh this sucks. Any clues anyone?

How long have you waited at the ACCESS screen? Are you sure it's not just going very slowly?

If it is indeed locking there, I think your only recourse is a hard reset.

See the Palm KB article: http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBC...ase=Obj(26419)

It's very close to what you're describing.

    That link didn't work

If I do this hard reset can I save my contacts? I just had to reformat my PC and I hadn't installed hotsync yet This is the worst.

    You don't use a backup-to-card app?

Anyway, try the system reset referenced in the link; if that works, you won't lose any data.

I'm no expert, but if a hard reset doesn't work (and you're sure you got the procedure right, it can be tricky) then your only recourse is a replacement phone.

Well, before you call for a replacement, keep trying the hard reset, alternating with the system and soft resets.

That is a sure sign the phone is busted! Time for a new one.

This happened to my 755p as well. Mine was just three weeks old when it happened. I had to take it to the Sprint store and they fixed it in about 30 minutes. Somehow they did a hard reset.

    MaynardLD50,

Your Treo 755p has a one year warranty with the manufacture (Palm). Go to the Palm WEB site and you can request a warranty repair or replacement from Palm. You will only pay to send the phone to Palm and be without the phone for about a week.

I was told when I purchased insurance for my Treo, that repairs are covered, no additional charges for repair work. The $50 deductible is only if they have to replace your Treo with a brand new one.

I entered my information into the Palm website to process a return and received this:

"We're sorry, you have entered the serial number of a product for which Palm does not provide repair service. We do not handle repairs for the following products:

Sprint-branded Treo smartphones: Contact Sprint PCS for repairs"

Apparently, since it is Sprint branded, they will not touch it until it is out of warranty... I feel for ya ! Mine bricked today, just exactly like yours.
I asked for Sprint insurance, but when I looked at my account today it is not there. Of course. I'm calling Sprint to raise cain but you know how customer friendly *cough* they can be... My phone is only 3 months old and NEVER dropped or abused. No third party apps either! aargh!
But wait!!! This phone DOES have a 1 year warranty so someone needs to fix it without charging me more than postage, right? I hope Palm and Sprint don't just point at each other while I suffer! (sorry, just a bit of a cynic) .

This really sounds like a corrupt database to me. I'd pull the battery out for a good 30min, then do a hard reset. If this doesn't fix the problem, then you should call sprint as you likely have a hardware issue.

Before you do this, try leaving the battery out for awhile then doing a hard reset. Also, make sure you do not have an MiniSD card in the unit when you do this. Looping resets can be a really hard to solve at times.

As to your return question: You should never go to Palm initially for issues with your Treo. They will ALWAYS send you back to the carrier first. Sprint won't have a problem sending you a new phone if your current one has hardware issues and is within the warrany period.

Give my suggestion a try. If after this your Treo will not fire up, call Sprint and demand a new phone. In a few days, you'll have it.

I tried your suggestion but no joy... So, I dropped the phone off at our only "Service and Repair Center" which turns out to be a non-corporate store. They ordered me a new phone and then had the hutzpa to charge me $55!
I am so mad! WHY should I pay $55 for a phone that is under warranty? They said they are a non-coporate store and that is their policy. To me, it sounds like that should be illegal. I mean, they didn't do anything other than say, "Yup, it's bricked".
I am going to call Sprint and raise h**l. I still have my old phone so if Sprint will send me one free, I will call my Amex and reverse the charge to the original store if they won't "return" it...
Am I out of line? Is it warranty or not?

OK, I had Sprint telling me that Palm should fix it and I had Palm telling me that Sprint should fix it! Honestly, it was one of those situations where each company was pointing the finger at the other because I did not want to pay either one's fees for "express" replacement.

Palm stepped up, however, after I told them of the conundrum I was in. They offered to replace it outright with a refrub for $25 or allow me to send it in for repair for free. It actually sounded like they would attempt a repair... I would bet I get a refurb anyway, but that is OK. They told me it would be 5 to 7 business days turn around. On principal, I am gonna do it the free method. I refuse to give them any more money when my phone is only four months old.

I hope all goes well from here...

Please post here when you get it back. I would be very interested on how long the turn around actually is. Good luck.
